Questions about getting to Port Canaveral

I posted this on the cruise line forum also:

We will be going on a cruise after a stay in WDW. Am wondering how my different scenarios have worked for others regarding getting to the port. The cruise was an after-thought; so I am on the waiting list to spend an extra night at our resort, but I don't hold out much hope for that being fulfilled (DVC members and would rather use points than $$). So in the meanwhile, I've booked one night at the Hyatt at MCO.

Scenario 1: Just stay at the Hyatt and stop stressing. We are renting a car for the Disney segment and we can stop at the Hyatt to unload our luggage (which will be at least 3 large suitcases plus 2 carryons), return the car and just take the elevator up to the Hyatt. Am wondering how others handle the whole luggage thing. I read somewhere that the Hyatt will transport your luggage to the Disney area where we will be taking the Disney bus to the port. Is this true? Our luggage will then have to be placed in the area under the bus.....we don't have to worry about it again until we get to our stateroom, correct? We did do a cruise a few years ago, but flew in and I don't remember what we did. I was able to snag a room for $160 including tax.

Scenario 2: Pay for a Disney resort room for the one night and have the bus take us directly to the port. Return the rental car some time during the afternoon after checking in to disney resort and take the Magical express back. I checked prices for Alamo (thinking I could drop the car at the Dolphin or the car care center) but their prices right now are crazy. Also thought of driving rental car to the port...Alamo is out of control price wise, Dollar not too bad. Are there any reasonable rental companies and do any have a booth right at the port?

Scenario 3: Wait list comes through...would be very happy to bring rental car back on Saturday and take magical express back to resort.

How is it taking the bus from your resort to the port? Do they assign you a time or can you pick a time? The reason I would prefer to do this is because last time when we took the bus from MCO, the line to check in was crazy long. But our flight also arrived around 10:30 a.m., a busy time. Does anyone know what time the bus starts to depart?

DH and I have also disagreed about when we got our boarding documents for the ship. I said we got everything at the port. He says we got it when we checked in for the bus.

Thanks for any help/ideas.
