I have been searching for old posts because I know they are out there regarding the exercise room but I just can't find them.

My question is I'm looking to workout everday and what is the best time to do this? Is the room open 24hrs a day? If I go early (5am-6am) will it be impossible to get a machine? Do they have a sign up so nobody can "hog" up one machine for a long time (in my gym if there is a wait you get a limit of 30minutes per machine). Is the gym fairly large? I generally use the ellipitical and arc trainer. Do they offer these? Any other input you can give me would be wonderful. Thanks :-)

Within the past couple of weeks someone posted that the gym opens at 7 and by 7:20 there was a wait for the cardio equipment.
Is the gym fairly large?
Is your stateroom very large? :teeth: Are the pools large? :teeth: No, no and no, we're on a ship here and there is limited space. It's not a tiny space but it's not large by any stretch of the imagination. Remember that this is also the spa area and all of their treatment rooms, the rainforest and locker room/showers are here too.

I just looked at the floor plan of deck 9 and my guess is that the "fitness area" is only about 20 feet by 50 feet. This would have the cardio machines and the weight training equipment.

It's been quite a while since I last visited the spa area so my "first hand" knowledge is fuzzy (with age)

According to past navigators, the gym/fitness room is open from 0630-2000. There is no sign up for the use of cardio machines, but there is limited sign up for classes. You should take a look at past navigators to see if what they offer may interest you. Typically, on sea days, you'd want to hit the gym as early as possible, as it will be more crowded. When we went on port days, it tends to be less crowded, as alot of folks are getting ready for excursion early and out shopping, etc in the afternoon. I do not remember for sure if they have ellipticals or not, but there treadmills, bikes and I believe one or two stairmasters. If the gym is crowded and you are a runner (or could be for a week) try deck 4. Like the above poster said, not too much is big on a ship, including the exercise area. There is enough to fit some cardio machines, a flat bench, an incline bench some weights and some cybex machines.

For pics, try www.dcltribute.com. In the lower left corner, there is a section of external links. The Platinum link has some pics of the workout room and also previous navigators.

Our friend did this when we traveled with them on the last cruise. She usually got there around 6:30am and never had trouble getting a machine. She would use the treadmill. She said it was really great and she enjoyed it. She did it every morning of our cruise. You can either look out and see the water or you can look straight down and see the ship's bridge while you are working out.

Healthclub hours are 6:30am-8pm. I'm an early riser and found that there are very few others like me. I would imagine that up til 8am, you won't have any problems getting on a machine. There's always deck 4 if you wanted to jog or power walk earlier than 6:30am.

It's definitely not a large room. I think the description of it being 20 x 50 is pretty accurate. It is longer than it is wider, but some incredible views. I don't remember seeing anything posted about time limits, but there are trainers in the room, so I'm sure they keep things moving. There was an elliptical machine.

And nobody under age 18 is allowed in, except for two 30 minute sessions during the 7 day and only with the kids club. That was a big disappointment to my baseball playing 16 year old and very odd for a family cruise.

As for access, everytime we went in, it was empty.
