Questions about early entry

Or the Extra Magic Hour as they call it now.

I could've sworn the early entry for MK used to be Monday and Saturday. Those were the most crowded days at MK. Under the old system, WDW seemed to try to relieve each parks most crowded days with an early entry.

At first glance that doesn't seem to be the strategy now. Now it seems to be to get people to go to another park. In other words, if MK is most busy on Monday & Saturday, give it an early entry on Thursday and Sunday hoping to 'spread out' the crowd.

Is that really what is happening? Or are Thursday and Sunday now the busiest days at MK? Or am I remembering the whole thing wrong?

My family never does the early entry. We always planned a counter-strategy. If EE was at MK on Monday, we avoided MK on Mondays.

What are the busiest days at each park these days? We are planning a trip in October and usually in an 'off' time if I just avoided MK on Mondays and Saturdays everything else worked out fine.

It seems to us that the new EMH schedule gives MK more busy days. We were there on a Sunday in March, and it was very crowded. We went the next morning (Monday) and it was crowded too, as much as it used to be when Monday was EE day! We usually avoid whichever is the EMH park on a given day, since we don't like to get up early when we're on vacation. Now we feel that we need to avoid MK on Sunday AND on Monday, and not go there till Tuesday!!

EE or EMH ... or no EE or EMH, MK will be busy on Mondays.

One theory that I personally put stock in is that guests often visit the parks in the order they were created. MK, Epcot, MGM, AK. Since many guests start their touring week on Monday, that is a busy day there, if you subscribe to this philosophy.

That's how I look at it anyway. When asked I always advise people to avoid MK on Mondays and on Sundays, at least after church lets out and the locals descend.

I've heard Sunday morning at MK is not too crowded because that is a travel day for most people. I didn't get a chance to go to MK on Sunday because it was our travel day, but I would like to try EE there and then leave the park around 10:30.

A strategy that worked great for us is go to a park the day AFTER their EE day.
