I've decided that I want to do a disney half marathon in 2012. I've never done one....well i've never even done a half marathon for that matter! Anyway, I started training in October, 2010. I never ran/jogged before in my life. It's going well, but slow.

So my question is which half should I do and when? When is it cheaper in each place? I was thinking WDW in Jan/Feb and the DL in Sept. Thoughts? Should I switch it around? :confused3

Thanks.

Way to go on your training!

I'm planning to do what you said - run WDW during marathon weekend in jan 2012, then go for the coast to coast by doing the 1/2 in Disney Land in the fall.

For me, my motivation for this schedule is timing. We went to WDW during Marathon weekend in 2010, and the parks weren't busy at all the week after, so we decided we'd go again during that time. I started running last summer/fall, so I'm setting a goal for myself to particiapte in a race while we're there (haven't decided which race yet).

I want to go to DL in the fall because my sister moved out to LA last year, and it's a good time for us to take a family vaca out there. I've also gotten my sister to start running, so we're hoping to do it in 2012 together.

You now have another option in the whole thing for the coast to coast. There's the new Tinkerbell half in DL. The inaugural race will be at the end of Jan 2012. They just released info on it last week.

Good luck, and keep up with the training!

Congrats on your training and your goal to complete the C2C challenge. As far as which half should you do well that's up to you and how prepared you are for the marathon. Based on what I have discovered it is a little less expensive between January 1-31; September 1-30 and December 1-14. This is what some might refer to as the adventure season. One thing you may want to consider is that DL in September might be a little warm. Again congrats and good luck. :thumbsup2
