Questions about Cinderella's Castle

Yesterday while we sat comfortably in our home north of Nashville, TN, we watched w/concern reports on Hurricane Charley. We realized Orlando and on of our favorite place on earth was going to take a direct hit. One conversations went from the animals to the CMs and then to the rides at MK. My DD(13) said she had heard that during hurricanes the top of Cindy's Castle can be disconnected and taken down so the extremely high winds won't blow it off. Now, this sounds a bit far fetched to me and I questioned her completely on this but she swears it's true. Said she heard it on a recent show about Disney on The Travel Channel. This led me to thinking about how tall it really is and what do they really do when the winds kick up. Anyone know for sure? I can't imagine take the towers down but.....
Also what about the really tall outdoor rides? Like Kraken at Sea World and the other rides at Universal Studios.
Thanks for the input
Karen

Well, Cinderella Castle is 185 ft tall, and its 'bricks' are made of styrofoam. It is an urban legend that it can be taken apart in the case of a storm. It would take longer than they usually have to get a crane in place to remove sections, if it could be done. Cinderella's Castle can be taken apart in case a hurricane is going to hit The Magic Kingdom. False

This legend has been in circulation almost as long as Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has been open. Unfortunately, this feat is not possible. Cinderella's Castle is made entirely of fiberglass and can not be taken apart.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I didn't see anyway this could logically happen but I'm not an engineer so who knows?! Also I had to PROVE it to my daughter. She wouldn't have believed ME if I had told her it was just a story anyway. Heaven forbid anything seen on TV be made up or not 100% accurate! ;)

Thanks again,
Karen
