Questions about carseats and flying

If you're taking the car seats anyway I would highly recommend using them in the plane. My DD was so much calmer in her car seat and so much easier to care for when she was in her car seat. Also, you don't have to concern yourself with them being bounced around.

Some kids may be calmer, but some may be prone to kicking the seat ahead of them. A car seat makes that easy for them to do. Just something to think about.

I agree but with the kids being 3.5 and 4.5 their feet will reach the seat in front of them either way. At those ages I had to be aware of my dd's feet all the time as they could easily reach the seat in front of her. Parents just need to be aware of their children's feet, car seat or not.

I still much preferred having my dd in her car seat for safety and calmness. One red eye I put her in her car seat before the plane left the gate and she woke up 7 hours later (2 hour delay at departure gate) as we taxied into our destination gate and asked when we were going to take off. For us that never would have happened without a car seat.

How long is the flight? If you were to do car seats, I would check one at the counter in a plastic bag, a see thorough bag. For a long flight the younger may be better in her seat. Double check that it is FAA approved. Look on the underside.

I think it is a good idea that you are renting a car. With the scooter and stroller, it's a great idea. Especially leaving MK at night, getting a bus back going through main queue with a scooter is challenging. Reserve early on a no cancellation fe, then check back often for a better rate. Generally 3 weeks out may be the lowest, unless there is a high demand.
