Questions about booking flights through Disney

I have a couple of questions about booking flights through Disney as part of a package. I looked at the price to add airfare and it was coming up as less than purchasing the airfare directly from Airtran.

1. Can this be done after the package is booked?
2. If you book an Airtran flight through Disney, will you have an opportunity after to select/change your seats, before the day of the flight?

It can definitely be done after buying the resort package itself.

I had exactly the same experience, in that the price I was being quoted over the phone by Disney was cheaper than the price I was looking at at that exact moment on AirTran's website.

I remember having difficulty with seat selection. Now, this experience was 4 years ago, so things may have changed, but back then I basically had to find a sympathetic AirTran customer service rep who bent the rules and allowed me to make changes (such as select seats). Again, a lot of time has gone by since then, so I wouldn't take my experience as exactly what you will experience with the seating issue.

When you book the air through Disney, you will need to pay for it immediately by credit card or branded debit card. It's not like the rest of the package, with up to 7 days to make the $200 deposit and having 'til 45 days before the trip for the balance to be due and can be paid for by check as well as by plastic.

Just wondering how it turned out. I've booked a package through the Disney site, and like you I booked a good price on AirTran, but haven't found a way to select seats in advance. I'm not really worried about it, since it's not a non-stop flight and not terribly long, but I'd like the option to choose seats in advance. Did you have to pay baggage fees at the airport on the way to WDW, and if you used DME how did you take care of the fees on the return trip. Thanks for any info you can provide.

We just recently returned from a trip to Disney World and we booked our flights on Airtran through Disney. After booking the flight, I had to wait about 3-4 days (can't really remember) and then call Disney back and ask for the flight confirmation number, which they were happy to give me. I then got on Airtran's site and was able to use that number to reserve my seats. I did have to pay the $6 per seat fee, but I wanted to be sure we would all be seated together.

As far as paying for luggage, within 24 hours of our flight I was able to go back to Airtran's site and use the number again and confirm our flight and pay for luggage. I printed off our boarding passes and itinerary (which showed that I had paid for the luggage), took them with us to the airport and went through the luggage check-in.

For our return trip (we stayed at Pop and used Magical Express, but I imagine this would be the same at any on-site resort), the day before we left there was an envelope on our resort room door with information and (I think it is called RAC) phone number to call to pay for our luggage for our return trip (have pen handy for confirmation #). The next morning we just took our luggage to front of the hotel where ME dropped us off and they have an area set up that takes your luggage from there. They do need the confirmation number that RAC gives you. It was a really easy process!

We never book Airtran with the Disney Room/Ticket package. Always go straight to the Airtran site. That way if the rate goes down on the flight we can call AirTran directly and get the credit. One time we booked a vacation all in one and it was a hassle to get the company we booked it through to work with Airtran to get us the cheaper rate. Then somehow our credit got "lost". Through Airtran we got a credit this year and even have an email receipt in case we need proof! CYA I always say....

I even refreshed the page before I gave the verbal OK on the phone to book through Disney, just to make sure that AirTran's own price didn't just go down, as well.

I even refreshed the page before I gave the verbal OK on the phone to book through Disney, just to make sure that AirTran's own price didn't just go down, as well.

That's exactly what I did! I was a little worried about booking with Disney, but with the money we saved I just had to. I can't remember now how much it was, but I want to think around $150.00.
