Hello! This is all very precursory; as I'm not even in college right now (graduated with a B.A. but unhappy in my current job), but I thought I would ask a few questions I have about being a lifeguard in the college program.
I'm not new to swimming or even lifeguarding, so these are slightly more specific. Apologies in advance if I should have done more research before posting.
1. Do you get to choose where you guard? Resort pools vs. water parks? I've never done a big water park, and always found the prospect of guarding a wave pool rather unpleasant.
2. What is the uniform? I'm assuming women can't wear 2 piece guard suits, do they wear shorts and t-shirts on top of that?
3. Do lifeguards do a lot of first aid, or is this handled separately by another division? I'm talking little things I've encountered before at pools; band-aids, bee stings, bumps, etc.
4. Do you make a lot of saves/go into the water a lot? I would think a lot of inexperienced swimmers may be around the resort pools, but I don't know.
5. Last one, anyone that's done it before - have you had a hard time with guests from other countries not understanding/obeying the rules?
Thanks!
