Questions about Beaufort SC

We'll be in Hilton Head in a few weeks. Thinking about going to Beaufort for a day and noticed they are having a "Shrimp Festival" on Oct. 5 & 6th. For any of you from the area - is that a big deal - something we'd want to go to?

Not familiar with that one, but a day trip to Beaufort is definitely fun. I hope you go and tell us all about it! Don't forget to make a stop at The Chocolate Tree.

Also, on the way into Beaufort from HH is a wonderful barbeque place called Sgt. White's. It was written up in Gourmet magazine, the owner and chef is a former Marine. Once you turn right onto Hwy. 17 look for it on your right, it's an out-parcel on the corner in the same center that has The Piggly Wiggly. It's mainly a lunch place, they close fairly early although you could stop in and eat an early dinner there (ie. 4:30-5 pm). YUM!!!

Don't know about the Shrimp Festival but we went to the Art festival there in May a couple of years ago and that was fun.
Beaufort is a very pretty town.
