Questions about an AKL add-on

I apologize that I have been away from this board for quite some time and I'm sure that all of this has been asked. But I couldn't get the search to find the answers. How much are the points for an add-on at AKL? Does anyone know what the dues are? When will the points be added to your account? We have a February use year. Thanks so much for answering these questions again.

Current price to existing DVC members is $101 minus $8 per point incentive if you buy at least 50 (or 100, I am not sure of the threshold to get the incentive). Dues will be $4.62 per point per year for the intial period. Whether you get points immediately or later depends on your use year -- your first allotment is whenever your use year begins in 2007 -- thus if you have a Feb use year, you get points retroactively to Feb 2007 but if you have a Dec use year, you first get points Dec 2007. Not sure of the first applicable dues month since I got conflicting answers but likely July 2007 if you are given points that begin before then but Sep 2007 when the resort officially opens for those who do not get first allotment of points before then.

How long does the incentive and price per point last? We are thinking about adding 100 points.

Yes, 2057. As to building plans, it will be in phases. Part of the existing AKL will open as DVC in Sep. Another large part of it should be done and open as DVC in December, and then the rest in May 2008. There will then be the new and larger resort/bulding (Kidani) which they expect to open in early 2009. It will have its own large pool, restaurant, bus stop, etc. Though you will be able to walk from one resort to the other, it will be long (about 1/2 mile from front door to front door) even though the buildings will actually be closer to each other because they will be divided by the savanna which you cannot cross (unless you figure a way to attempt it at your own risk and can run very, very fast).

The minimum purchase to get the $8/pt incentive is 100 points. This deal is good until June 4th and then the base price goes from $101/pt to $104/pt. It's not clear if the incentive will still be available after June 4th.

As far as which UY you would start with, it could be either Feb '07 or Feb '08 depending upon whether they still have any Mar '07 points left to sell. AKV owners can start booking with AKV points on May 16th for stays starting Sep 1st or later. Everyone can book at AKV using any points starting June 6th.

As I just purchased, you will get 07 points if you purchase now -- if you have Feb or March use year the points start with Feb or March 07 but if you have a later month you get those when your month comes up in 07.

Yippee! DH just got off the phone with our wonderful guide and he bought an add-on for 150 points. They had points available for 2007 Feb use year, so they will be added to our account. Now we have points that go beyond 2042. Thanks so much for all the quick answers. They definitely helped DH make a fast decision.

Thanks! Now we have 550 points. I keep saying we have enough, but I don't know if we will really ever have enough. It's a sickness. But it sure is fun! I guess we really had to buy this year. It is our 10th anniversary as DVC members this year. What better way to celebrate?
