We are planning a family reunion trip in Dec 2009 and I now think it might work out better for us (more space, less points usage) to go with two 2-bedroom units instead of a Grand Villa. We saw the Kidani models at Saratoga (the 1 bedroom and the studio). So are the 2 bedrooms at Kidani a combination of dedicated units and lock off units? Does anyone know the number there will be of each and I assume the type can only be requested, not guaranteed. Since the 1 bedroom units at Kidani will have 2 bathrooms, does this mean a lock off 2 bedroom will have 3 bathrooms? But will a dedicated 2 bedroom only have 2 bathrooms? And does the second bedroom in a dedicated unit have two double or queen beds while a lock off will have a queen plus sofa sleeper? And living rooms in both will have a sofa sleeper and a sleeper chair (no value rooms at Kidani). Another question about the distance between Kidani and Jambo...is it quite a hike? Does it require going outside to go from one to the other? We were thinking of getting Concierge for my parents since at least my Dad will not be going to the parks much, if at all. So he would appreciate and make use of the Concierge food offerings. But I didn't realize that concierge was only in Jambo. We could all be in Concierge but that would require us all squeezing into one 2-bedroom and a studio (due to points limitations). Also, how many standard view 2 bedroom units will there be at Kidani? I think I read somewhere that 80% were Savannah. Due to points usage we will probably have to try for standard view.

Lock-off vs dedicated is a booking category for each resort, as they need to track them for the purposes of booking one bedrooms & studio reservations. It will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Dedicated should have 2 real beds, lockoff bed + sofa in the studio section. Kidani 2 bedroom units should have 3 bathrooms, both dedicated and lock-offs.

Kidani living rooms should have sofa + sleeper chair, both dedicated and lock-off.

I would not want my party split between Kidani and Jambo concierge. Why not just book your parents into Kidani and stock the fridge with snacks?

Another option would be to book parents into concierge, and the rest of the party into Jambo 5th floor. Then you'd just be an elevator ride away from each other, but you'd be giving up the 3rd bathroom in the two bedroom units.

Yeah, I tend to agree w/ not splitting our party in Jambo and Kidani. And our request should be the dedicated 2 bedrooms since they have 2 real beds, although the lock off will have the additional kitchenette area (small micro/fridge), coffee maker. That might be something to think about if someone sleeping in the living room is a late riser and you don't want people getting up early to make coffee. If we got one dedicated and one lock-off would it be possible to have them located close to one another? I assume they don't group all the 2 dedocated bedrooms together and they are all scattered about. Hmmm...so much to think about! We just got back from our 2008 trip (not a large family gathering) at the end of July and here I am already planning for the next trip!

At all the existing resort the dedicated two bedrooms are mixed in around the lockoffs, so you should be able to request they be near each other at Kidani. Just how "near" you won't know until check-in.
