Questions about a birthday...

My mom, younger brother and I are going to WDW in a few weeks. My mom's birthday is 10 days before our trip. The trip isn't specifically for her birthday, but I thought it would be fun to surprise her (or not surprise, since she's an occassional DISer and might read this  ) and celebrate it at one of our meals. Is this even acceptable, or would it be frowned upon to tell them it's her birthday when it was actually 2 weeks earlier? We've never been there for any of our birthdays before and likely won't be anytime soon, so I don't really see a problem with taking advantage of the opportunity to have a "birthday" in WDW.

Also, she has already made our ADR's. Can I still call ahead of time and tell then that we'll be celebrating her birthday?

Finally, which restaurant would be the most fun? We have ADR's at Boma, 50's Prime Time, Crystal Palace, Chefs de France and Le Cellier. I don't really know what WDW restaurants do for birthdays, so any suggestions?

Thanks! :teeth:

I think this would be perfectly acceptable and a wonderful surprise for your mom.

You can check out the Birthday Cake thread and maybe make your decision on which restaurant to choose from that.

No choice would be a wrong choice as all the restaurants make a fuss over a Birthday. You can call ahead and make arrangements, and then try to be the one who checks all of you in at your restaurant of choice and reiterate that you are celebrating a birthday. In addition to the cake or whatever you have decided to do, they usually decorate the table with Mickey confetti and streamers.

The Birthday Cake thread is here:

Good luck and happy planning!

I think it would be alot of fun celebrating her birthday at either the Crystal Palace or the 50's Primetime Cafe. We celebrated my nephews birthday at the CP in 2004. They decorated the table with Mickey confetti, then brought out a cupcake and had everyone sing him Happy Birthday.

I also think that celebrating it at the 50's Primetime would be a blast too.

As the ADR's have already been made, and you want this to be a surprise, I'd call Disney Dining and ask them to make a note on the adr that it's for your mom's birthday. When you check in, try and mention it again, quietly, to your server.
