I'm planning on booking a cruise when the 2004 schedule comes out - when do I need to be looking for that? I know June, but are we talking early, mid, or late? I'm wondering if I need to be online at midnight, June 1st to get the good deals. With past experience, what is the lowest price you have seen for a 7day (east. or west.) I have seen it as low as $649 and I would jump on that in a heartbeat. Of course I'm talking low categories. Also, how hard is it to get a secret porthole room? I figure there are roughly 50 cruises a year and there are how many people on this board that know about them? Doesn't quite equal out! Those that have had one, how hard did you have to try to get one? Any help is appreciated!

I called DCL last week to see when the 2004 schedule might be released. The agent who answered the phone guessed "end of the summer." So I wouldn't count on June 1. (He really didn't know, so it might be some time in June after all.)

He said the first categories to sell out are Categories 1, 2 and 3. It's critical to call right away for those. He said there's no hurry for other categories.

I've been checking every week for the 2004 schedule. Even if you aren't booking category 1,2 or 3 it's best to book as soon as you can to get the best discount. I'm looking for category 6 for a 7 day cruise. I have a family of 6 so I need two staterooms. I figure checking each week is a small price to pay considering the early booking savings.

I plan on posting the news as soon as 2004 opens up.

Kelly,

It took me from an April '02 booking to get the January 26th, '03 before there was a secret porthole room available. From what I have read here and elsewhere CM don't know of these rooms?!?!?

Good Luck

WoW! That's a long way off from your original plans! Great that you got one, though. At least that gives me a better idea of what I'm up against. I've been checking Travelocity.com everyday (I'm at a computer 8 hours a day for work so it's real easy for me to surf over to it) for the new schedule but nothing yet. I would love to get one - I am like the world's biggest tight wad and would love to get a little extra for my money!

We had two connecting secret porthole rooms this past April on the MAGIC and simply LOVED them. We booked them apx one year in advance. I have pics of them on my website.
:)

This may be a question for a "new thread" but maybe one of you know - how did the secret porthole rooms become not so secret? Obviously I found out on Barb's site as I'm sure many others did but how did they find out?

Just curious

Kelly, this board has a LOT of readers and the "secret porthole" rooms have been discussed here at length (by Barb and Tony, among others)...hence they are not so secret anymore. :)

I booked my 2003 cruise approx. one year in advance and I have 3 of the port hole rooms....Can't wait...
