I'm going to book our trip for this coming spring. Right now there are no deals being offered which is fine, but if one should come up will they switch my reservation to reflect that if I call and request it

They will give you the discount if there is availability in your room type and resort. They just apply the discount and it takes a few seconds.

If your room type and/or resort isn't available for the discount then you will have an option to switch to a room that is included.

The pp answered your question, but I wanted to add that there is a RO discount being offered now. Not sure when in the spring you are looking at going, but the new promo that just came out is good for select dates January-mid April, with a book by date of December 31, 2013.
