This pin says LE 1000 on the back, but if they are sending each person who attended the Princess Ball a new one, doesn't it become LE 2000??

What do you think?

Leslie

Since there will be a difference in quality, I think I prefer to think of the pins as two different ones at LE 1000 each. Repeat pins aren't that unusual. Take a look at the princess and prince dancing pins that were released at Disneyland Paris recently. They are very similar to the dealers' pin series that was released through the Walt Disney Classic's Collection. Slight variations in some of the detail but the colors and poses are almost identical. Does the fact that the Disneyland Paris pins are open stock mean these earlier pins are no longer special? Or does the Americana series of Mickey and the Flag make the "Mickey for President" less desirable? Again, same basic pin with a slight difference in detailing.

As with all collecting, it will come down to personal preference, I'd say. Some will count them as the same pin with a higher edition size, others will continue to separate them. I hope that PinPics makes them separate just as they separate the error and corrected pins. A difference in quality is an "error" just as the miscolor on the Yin and Yang.

It will be a completely new run and a completely new pin so it will only be LE 1000,

as will be the first one...

and this is gotanypins(donna) using my dd computor....

That is a very good question. If it is the same pin then it is not an LE of 1000. So when I go to trade for one of these how will I know if I have a first run or second run? Think about that... If both pins are marked on the back LE 1000 will the second set have a disclaimer on it? If Disney was not happy with the quality they should have pulled the pins and just sent out a pin to those who bought the package.

My understanding is that it is going to be the same pin, and quite honestly, I think it is a beautiful pin...I can't imagine what they think is wrong with it. But if it is the same design, then I still wonder if it becomes 2000. You're right Nat, how would we know which is which?

Leslie

Apparently Disney was not happy w/ the weight of the pin, as it did not measure up to the quality
of eg (the pin from the DTD Christmas event), and they want all of the pins in this series to be of the
same quality.. so it may look the same, but will be produced differently, a new die will have to be made, therefore
it makes it a different pin....hence the same only different....

Now is everyone completely confused???? Good!!!

Donna

It will be cool to see what the back of the pin says...

or something to show it is the upgraded one, otherwise, trading would be interesting

One way to tell, is that this one will be a little better put together, and maybe thicker..

So the Disney CM said on Sat.

Time will tell

So which one will be the better trader??

Donna

They said the pin will say

LE1000 second batch of LE1000 first batch which was bad not really, but what the hey we felt like making another pin... This pin is not to be traded with Nat, only first batch trades for him, and only if he wears a boa. copyright Disney World Corporation, a division of Time Warner Corporation, a division of Hakamuri seaweed corporation Tokyo. 2002 all rights reserved.

And the pin is now 4" by 2" and wt is 3 lbs.

agree with the other "locals" hi family  if you have the Christmas in the City pin you will know the difference when you have them side-by-side. it will be as obvious in persona as a plastic cheapin from Spain is from the real McCoy. In a database scan it may not be obvious. :P

Good question though. Which one will be the better trader? I think they will each be a great trader. one will obviously go with the set of 12 and one will just be a highly desirable pin due to it's content. Hence, I too, say two separate pins with an LE of 1000 each.

Just one more opinion.

So do you need both pins to complete the set... If Disney was not happy with the quality they never should have released the pin. I can understand there is a quality issue but if the pin is still the same then how would a person who does not have both to compare know which one is which?

But I think they should have asked us to return the one we have and they would send us the new one.

Two batches of same-but-not-the-same LE 1000 pins.....Doesn't sound right to me.

I guess I kind of agree...if Disney wasn't happy with the quality, then why release it? But like I said before, I believe the pin we got is of high quality (I saw the pin from Christmastime in City and I still don't get it). But if they want to send me another pin, who am I to turn them down? :D :D

Leslie

I was under the impression that the new pin will be a completely different pin, not a re-do of the one we got.

UPDATE: Duh! I should have read the DizPins news page before I posted this. Sorry!! ~N~

What difference does it make? A pin is a pin. You either like it or you don't. You want it in your collection or you don't.

Wash your mouth out w/ soap...

I think what prompted the conversation was the 25.00 fee that most of paid for the pin and lanyard.

These were to be part of a continuing theme for all of these upcoming & past events..

So were do they fit in the collection...I think it is great that Disney is giving us another pin, but
it was sure to prompt questions, when the pin is very nice, and they have never done this before

And by the way..welcome to boards ...I think..lol

by the way..ARE you a pin collector???

Donna:cool:

DISrepecter... What would your uncle Scrooge say about that???

There is something fishy going on. I have had an experience with LE pins that does not add up.
I ordered a pin LE 100 from the disney auctions. Only one. I receiced 3. So is the LE. 100 or 102????
I did send them the money for the other two pins but did not ask any questions. What's up.????

That is a good point Shirley. What does LE 1000 mean? Prodution run? I have a few LE 500s and 1000s. But do I?
