Not sure if this is where this post should be....
We are in the process of purchasing our first DVC points. Will close on May 17th.
The amount we have is not all that we will need for our first vacation and we are wanting to possibly have another member transfer points into our account.
We will be owners of 100 Beach CLub
with use month Feb.
Questions:

1. If we transfer another members points.. say
200 and they are WL use month May...
DO the transfered points take on our Feb use year or reamain May.

2. Are they still locked into the 7 month window if we wanted to book at Beach Club.

3. How far out would we have to bank if we were unable to use all transferred points ( I have heard both that you can anc cannot bank transferred points)

4.How long does it take for a transfer agreement take affect?

Sorry for all the questions. We are real NEWBIES :rolleyes:

Transfers retain their use Year AND Home Resort origin.

You can only book beach Club 7 months out with the transferred VWL points even if they are in your BCV membership.

3. How far out would we have to bank if we were unable to use all transferred points ( I have heard both that you can anc cannot bank transferred points

You CAN bank transferred points BUT your banking amounts are going to be dictated by the contract that you transfer the points into. So if you have a 150 point contract at the Beach Club, you are only going to be able to bank a total 150 points at the 6th month banking deadline.

4.How long does it take for a transfer agreement take affect?

Transfers can be done as soon as an agreement is made between the parties. Usually it can be done with a simple phone call and in some cases where a manual adjustment is necessary, no more than 24 hours.

Hope this information helps you

Thank you so much. This was very helpful!!!

One other question ( I may post this as well) Is there anyway to verify the validity of a DVC member? Is there a member
website that posts all members names?
Thanks Again

Not that I know of. You could certainly do a search of that person's screen name on these Dis-Boards and read what they have posted. That would give you a good idea about the person.

If the DVC Member has a contract at one of the Orlando DVC properties, you can check the Orange County website. Click here

Enter the person's Lastname Firstname and click Search. You should get a list of land properties. The website is not exclusive to DVC properties, but lists all land properties in Orange County (which includes DVC properties). Note: Hilton Head and Vero Beach will not appear on the Orange County website.

There are various document types.
These will be of most interest.
D = deed (indicates ownership of the property)
M = mortgage (indicates that they have a loan on the property)

These document types, if listed for the person, would be of concern and would indicate that they are possibly behind on payments.
LN = Lien
LP = Lis Pendens
J = Judgment

Let me know if you need more help with the information on the website.

Thanks Troy. It worked.
Heres the deal
It is showing 3 seperate files
2 in 1998 one a M and one a D
1 in 2001 is a S

All are Book Type O and
all state V under Status.
No indication of a flag or
the other codes you mentioned.

Does this seem Ok to you.
Wow what great info! Thanks
Beth
