Question regarding transferring in Riviera Points

I have a resale contract, some quick questions just to double check:

1. Can I transfer in Riviera Points from another member?
2. If I transfer in Riviera Points from another member, are they restricted (meaning I can only use them at Riviera, or can't use them at Riviera), or do they work like normal points for me?

1. yes

2. restrictions follow the points, so if they are resale RIV they are usable only at RIV. If they are direct RIV they have direct RIV usability but don't change your blue card status.
 
Another thing to be aware of is if you have a resale contract, you won’t be able to search RIV availability and will have to call to book using your transferred RIV points.

I hadn't noticed that before, and I was about to say that was not so, but you're right.
(I have two membership IDs and one has blue card status and the other is resale points only. If I search with the one membership number Riviera is an option, but with the resale only membership it's not a search option)

I had not heard this before so I just looked. Our points status is exactly as yours; a mix. However if I am on the “plan a vacation “screen, it defaults to our membership number that includes direct points (Contract 0 and .1). If I switch that window to our resale only contract, I still see Riviera. We held that resale contract from February 2018 so perhaps it’s because we owned it prior to the policy change? Interesting.

Resale contracts bought prior to January 2019 are eligible to book RIV. So, memberships with those contracts can see RIV. My Dec UY has both SSR and BLT points, with the BLT points bought last year (just sold them so waiting for them to be removed) and RIV has been an option.

It is people who bought after January 2019 resale as their first contract who can not see RIV at all as an option. So, it does make sense that transferred in points, since that is a temporary contract, would not change the programming for that account.
