Question regarding refund on cancelled trip

I cancelled a package today that was booked through Disney. The CM told me it will take 1-2 billing cycles before my credit card and Disney gift cards are credited. Does it really take a month or 2? Anyone cancel a trip recently? How long until credit card and gift cards were credited? I have another package booked through a travel agent (better price than through Disney) and final payment is due in about 6 weeks. Any help would be appreciated!
 
Well, I have no idea how long it takes, but, I would like to know this as well...
 
Generally Disney credits within a day or two - now the big question is how long your bank or credit card takes to put the credit through to you. They actually will do the credit as they are talking with you and then it takes about 24-48 hours to show up to your company beyond that you would want to talk with your bank or credit card company.
 
I have cancelled trips, pre-paid events and also a TA reservation and they have all been credited within about a 7 day period. It does vary depending on the bank and if it is a true credit card or a debit card. I use a Visa Debit.
 

Cancellations on credit cards usually show up within 2-3 business days for me, but debit/check cards are more like 4-5 business days. Regardless, I would be shocked if it took as long as you were told!
 
Thank you for all your replies! I will keep an eye out and hopefully the money will be credited within the next week or so. I am mostly concerned about the Disney gift cards because I need them to pay down my balance on the new trip that I booked.
 
Disney is going to give you the worst case. That way, if they tell you 1-2 billing cycles and it only takes 14 days, then you are happy. However, if they told you 7-10 days and it takes 14 days, you would be upset. Always better to tell the customer the max amount of time it can take. Once Disney issues a credit, it is out of their hands. The bank or credit card then has to do THEIR jobs.

It *can* take 2 billing cycles. After all, the company crediting you doesn't know when your billing cycle ends and starts. And they don't know what sort of CC company and/or bank you use.
 
I've never used a credit card for a Disney payment, but my debit card received a refund within 3-4 days. Keep in mind that if you have made multiple payments (as I always do), each individual payment will be credited and may be over the course of a couple of days. :goodvibes

It's the phrasing. It "can" take up to 1-2 billing cycles to show on your statement. That's the phrase they should've used. I've worked as a CSR for Boden (Internet clothing company) Lane Bryant and now for roadside assistance. They phrase it like that because they don't know when your billing cycle ends. It could end the day you call, the next day or in 3 weeks. Lets say your billing cycle ends tomorrow it won't show on your next statement but will the following month's statement. It also depends on your bank/CC company. They have to receive from Disney a hard copy that you are entitled to a refund. Just like when you purchase something. Sure you'll see the "authorization" but the actual charge takes a few days to process.
