My question is....If you are looking to add on more points, can you add to your use year at your same homebase? I have been reading everyones posts and it is confusing to me. I have the fever for purchasing some additional points and adding them on to my existing points. I have only been a member for just over a year and feel that it isn't enough.

Is it better to purchase thru DVC or to add on thru resale?

Here is my understanding of add-ons. Whether you are able to get your same home resort and use year depends upon a number of variables. If your resort is sold out, you will need to contact MS or your guide and ask to be put on a wait list for your resort and use year. Your guide would be able to tell you of any availablity and give you an idea of wait time. If your home resort is not sold out, you need to check with guide as to available use year. If you go through a resale, it is the luck of the draw as to what is available-you might find what your looking for, you might not. Resale is generally cheaper, although with a smaller number of points, the closing costs for resale can affect the value. I did my add-on through DVC after considering several resale options.

If you purchase through DVC they will automatically sell you the same use year that you presently own. If you own at the BCV's then you won't have any problem because that is what they are presently selling at WDW.

If you own BCV and want to add on there, Disney is just about the only game in town for an add-on. Especially a small one. If you want another resort like the BWV's, then it would be best to go re-sale.

It still goes back to the old saying of "buy where you want to stay."
