There are so many that you give your credit card number to and you get a "free" service for 30 days and after that they charge your card. The sites say you can call before 30 days to cancel and not get charged. So, I'm wondering is it a good idea, a bad idea, what has your experience been? On the surface it seems like a quick way to increase your points but I'm not sure if it would just be a hassle to cancel if it's something you know you really don't want. TIA:confused:

Personally, I limit the places I will register my cc. If it's something I really want anyway, then I might go for it, but I don't think I'd do it just to get some points. Although, I am probably going to do the trial of connections and cancel within the thirty days. Mmmm, I am contradicting myself, lol. My understanding is that it is not too difficult to cancel connections but they will try to talk you into keeping your membership.

Welcome to the DIS!

I signed up once for one of those "free trial period" offers and have never done it again. Even after cancelling within the trial period , I was still charged the membership fee for several months afterwards. Every time I called customer service I was assured that my membership had been cancelled, but the following month my credit card would come in with another charge for the membership. It took several phone calls over a period of months to get the matter cleared up. It was definitely more trouble than it was worth. Maybe others have had more positive experiences with these types of offers.

My own experience is that I will only sign up for them if I have every intention of going through with it...I have had the same problems with the company still charging my CC even after I have cancelled...So, now I just sign up if I want to do it, like Connections...but others I steer clear from! LOL...

Good Luck! :)
