We are flying out early Saturday a.m. and just now thought of this question. My dh and I are flying on SW with our twin 4-year olds and 9-year ds.

Do you use car seats on the airplane (for the 4 year olds)? Are they required? Optional? What are the requirements? The car seats we have are the large high back ones that are heavy and big.

For those of you who have flown with preschoolers, what have you done?

Will you need car seats in Orlando? If it is just for on the plane they may be more comfortable with just the seat belt.

I'm assuming that we will not need car seats in Orlando. We are not renting a car; just taking transportation to/from the airport and using WDW on-site transportation for the parks.

Then I would leave your car seats at home. If they have long legs sitting in the car seats they may be bumping the seat in from of them.

Yes, they have long legs (both tall for their age) and the car seats are big! Thanks for the info.

Southwest does not require car seats for any age child so you should be fine.

Shuttle from aiport to hotel might be different story in this day and age. we use to tip the cap of our four year olds baseball cap to make him look taller to get on rides and stuff <grin> but if your twins are tall anyway maybe a don't ask don't tell policy is in effect!

can't wait to reach the no carseat stage again for these trips!

Have a great time, perfect ages for Disney!

just a thought, are you staying on site? will you use magic express to get to/from airport? this must have come up with other on siters and no car rentals? anyone??

Absolutely 100% keep the car seats at home. Period.

You will NOT need them on the airplane.

Car seats are NOT PERMITTED on DME buses and Disney Transport buses.

I went in May with my 5 year old and 2.5 year old. They looked adorable in those "huge" airline seats, and they rode all the buses without any special equipment.

So really, please don't even give it a second thought. Trust me on this one. :goodvibes Leave those car seats at home, and enjoy your trip!

I second the LEAVE THEM HOME. We just returned Sat. and left ours at home. We did not rent a car, used all Disney transportation, and never needed the car seats. I had 2 dd's who both require them in cars and they were never questioned at the airport or Disney. In fact, we flew SW and the only car seat I saw on either flight was for a very small infant who looked to be maybe a few months old at best.
