Question regarding D23 weekend

Please forgive me for not being very familiar with the D23 convention. I am a big DL fan, but new to it all.

My wife and I live 3.5 hours away and recently purchased AP's after four year of PH's. We would like to make a last chance summer visit to DL this weekend before they shut our two favorite rides down, HM, PoC. We won’t be returning until October. Arrival Friday, leaving Sunday.

My question is will the D23 convention make a noticeable difference on the crowd situation? I realize the weekends are always busier to begin with and the same with the end of summer. Will the convention completely swamp it? I ask because it's obviously a large expense after you count the cost of food, fuel, and a hotel. If it will be total chaos I'd prefer to skip this trip.

I will go with the advice I get from this board. You guys are great. Thank you

I really wouldn't worry about the convention at all. It may add some people but a small percentage to the number that will already be in the parks.

The convention runs into the night so there crowd may not shrink when they come in later and families with young kids are leaving. Convention will go about 9 to 9. Not leaveing a lot of DL time.

But Sunday may be a problem. The convention end earlier leaving most of the night for the convention goers. But even worse is APs will become unblocked. It's sure to be the busiest Sunday since June.

Thanks for the input. I will be at the park only for a few hours on Sunday so that won't be a problem.

I went the first week of August and stayed at the PPH and it was pretty crazy.

Thanks again.
