Hi Everyone,

Just a quickie - if we use Virgin's online check-in 24 hours before our outward flight, and then Virgin's DTD check-in the morning of our return flight - do we still need to be at the airport 3 hours before departure?

Thanks,

Hi

Virgin DIY check-in

On arrival at the airport go to the DIY check in bag drop desk to collect your boarding documents and check your bags in - this must be completed at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight.

Virgin DTD check-in

The check-in is open from 0800 - 1300 every day - boarding passes will be given to the passengers - all passengers using this service still need to arrive at the airport 2hrs before their scheduled departure time.

Hope this helps !

Just wondering if anyone has yet tried online check-in for the journey home?

Hi

I did the online check in in orlando 3 weeks ago- it was very good- I arrived at the airport to find long lines for the Virgin check in- I bypassed them all and went almost straight to the front of the line! - i could feel peoples eyes staring into my back :)

I would def do this again the wait in the normal line looked huge as there were 2 Virgin flights leaving in the space of an hour:)

Thanks for the reply gavvy - good to know that it can be easily done for the return journey. A few more questions if you don't mind -

How did you get online - did you have a laptop with you?

How early did you arrive at Orlando airport?

Is the DIY check in desk easy to find?

As you see - I'm a planner!!!

Hi

I was out in orlando on business so had my laptop with me- i checked in online about 2 hours before i got to the airport, you can even choose your seat so its quite good.

The DIY check in desk in MCO is next to all the regular check in desks, its easy to find- i arrived in MCO about 2 hours before my flight was due to depart- the airport was in chaos as it was closing the next day due to the hurricane and i only just had enough time to clear security and get to the gate- think i had about 15 mins spare to grab some duity free, I imagine though the airport isnt normally that busy but i would still give it at least an hour and a half, Virgin normally start boarding their flights about 45 mins or so before departure.

Many thanks gavvy. I just need to figure out a way to get online, and, if I can, then I'll try DIY check in rather than heading to Downtown Disney.

We used DIY check in in August 04 in Orlando. We did not hire a car so DTD involved transport issues. As we stayed on site so we caught the bus to the Coronado springs resort and went online from there. Yes we would do the same again.

That's excellent, go cat - we'll be in the same situation with no car to get to DTD easily.

BTW How much did it cost to get online at Coronado Springs?

Sorry it's a late reply,
The very, very nice man at C Springs said it would cost $10 per 15 mins but in the end we did not have to pay. We made 3 trips to C. Springs before actually getting to book the return check in. We made friends with the very nice man in that time.
