Question re Target Pharmacy Rewards

I just got back from picking up several prescriptions from Target. The tech told me that they can't counted for the Pharmacy Rewards program because I didn't pay anything for them.

I do actually have to pay a co-pay, just not directly to the pharmacy. My insurance includes a spending account and all of my co-pays are paid directly from that account. I tried to explain that to the tech and she looked at me like I had two heads, snapped that I wasn't eligible, and closed the window in my face.

Leaving aside the horrible service, has anyone hear of a rule that you must pay money directly to the Target pharmacy in order to get reward points? I'm just trying to figure out whether it is worth arguing this to the pharmacy manager or the 800-number.

My deductible has been met so my Rx haven't cost me anything either......and I've been getting my rewards.

I work for Target. I also have my prescriptions filled there, and was nervous when my insurance changed and one of my monthly scripts ended up being free. But it does count!
Log onto Target.com and create an account. Using your REDcard and RX Rewards, you can track your progress to the additional 5% off!

Yep mine counts too! I filled one last week that was free because my employer covers preventive medicine at 100% and I got credit for it. :thumbsup2

Thanks! You've all confirmed my thoughts that I just got someone having a moment today. I'll work on getting them counted tonight! One more to go until my first 5% + 5% gift card purchase!!!

You will need to call the 800 number on the back of the pharmacy card. Once the transaction is completed in the store they can't change what is posted. I have had numerous problems with getting the prescriptions properly posted. They will take your word for it. They missed 7 of my prescriptions in the last two months and it was no problem. Good luck!

Done! The nice lady at the 800 number put them right on my account and even gave me the 2 or 1 special so my first savings certificate should arrive shortly!!!

Not I just have to hope I get a kind, patient person at the Disney ticket office when I call six months from now and want to buy our 10-day passes with a whole passel of $50 gift cards.

Thank you for posting this!

The only "prescriptions" we take in our household are Zyrtec (DD) and Allegra-D (DH). Since they are both available OTC, our insurance will cover them 100% with no copay as long as the doctor notes "dispense OTC" on the order. We've always used Walgreen's (before Target even had a pharmacy!) and until now, we had no reason to switch. I think we may just have to make the change. That extra 5% will be great to use towards our annual DVC dues:thumbsup2.

What is the procedure for transferring the prescription over? We've never switched pharmacies before. Do we need to get new scripts from the doctors or can we just bring in the bottles?

Oh, I forgot...my doctor just prescribed an inhaler for me to use on my runs (exercise-induced asthma, apparently) and since I take 600 mg of ibuprofen twice a day, I think I will ask her for a script for that instead of taking 3 OTC that I bought myself.

I'm not sure about OTC prescriptions but I transferred my regular prescriptions from CVS over the Target pharmacy website. I think I just had to put in the prescription number, pharmacy name and phone, and medication name and dose. They were ready to pick up the same day.

Make sure you look at one of the threads about the Target Red Debit and Credit Cards. They have a 5% automatic discount which you can stack with the 5% pharmacy discount to get close to 10% off the Disney gift cards (and just about everything else Target sells).
