Hi

We normally stay at the Explorers, which we love, but fancy a change in order to take advantage of extra magic hours offered through the Disney hotels (DD1 is 3 and a half, and gets a tad ratty when she has to queue!)

So, we will be reserving the Santa Fe through Expedia (probably) as we don't require tickets as we have Fantasy passes. Questions are:

Can we take up the half board meal plan by doing it this way?
How do you book the Fantasyland breakfast - directly with the hotel when we get there?

Thanks all.

PS, if anyone has a recommendation as to a decent room number to request I would be grateful.

Hi,

I don't know about the half board meal plan, but as far as the Fantasyland breakfast is concerned, I booked mine direct with Disney (but I booked my hotel through them as well, so it was treated as part of the booking).

When I stayed at the Santa Fe in February, I just asked at reception when I checked in, and got a Fantasyland breakfast. Its subject to availability though. And I've also heard that from November, the Fantasyland breakfast may no longer be available at all.

as for room numbers, not too sure of a specific one as I have stayed in so many here!!

But we really enjoyed building 33, we got a great view of the lake and its the biggest building in the hotel so we never got lost!! Plus it has vending machines in this building, so very useful when you have a child :)

fantaysland breakfast is only bookable thru disney direct when you get the room, or on arrival at reception :)

We stayed in block 24 also facing the river. Don't go for that one!
Both me and DH said frequently that we really wished we had paid a tiny bit extra and gone for the Cheyenne. It looked a lot nicer and from reports on here is of a better standard than the Santa Fe.
Can you tell we were disappointed with the Santa Fe?

i would agree. especially because you have a young daughter, she will probably love the western theme and bunk beds at the cheyenne. the rooms are a bit smaller in the cheyenne i think, but overall i have always enjoyed this hotel, whereas Santa Fe can be a little hit and miss.

Check out the price difference, it's never normally more than about a tenner extra each or so.

yea on that note i agree - i styaed at the cheyenne just last week - it's far superior to the santa fe by a few hundred miles lol.

Can I ask what was wrong with that particular block? We are staying at the Santa Fe in about a month and I thought that the ones by the river were the ones to go for.

We have stayed at the Cheyenne before and didn't care for the bunk beds - might have been OK if DD had been a litlle younger - plus we want to try a new hotel - working our way round them nicely - whether we'll ever get to try the most expensive 2-HNY and DLH is another matter.

Hi there!
Well, we stayed in block 24, room 116. It was an upstairs flat and the first major problem was that the window had no lock on it whatsoever. The room was very hot but we dared not to open the window in case DS (almost 4) leaned out and fell. The fan did help keep the room cool though.
The bathroom was pretty grim. The ceiling above the bath/shower had loads of mould on it that hadn't even tried to be disguised, it was gross. The grout between the tiles was all yucky too.
The carpet was awful to walk on barefoot....all sticky and very stained.
The bed spread was awfully stained too, although the duvet under which we slept was clean I must add.
We arrived on Monday. When we left on Friday there was STILL a used plaster from the previous (or maybe previous previous!!) occupants under one of the beds..not right under, only just under.

I was just very disappointed with the shabbiness of it. I wasn't expecting much, but general cleanliness and hygiene was kind of on my list!
Mrs Stonfiesta was there at the samw time as me and had similar issues with the room I believe.
Deffo wouldn't stay there again for sure. It would be Cheyenne for a budget or Newport Bay (which I fell in love with) on a blow out.

Just came back today and we were in block 20 room 20. No great view but good distance to reception/breakfast and the walk to the park. Also on ground floor so no waiting for lift (with buggy which incidently is still in Paris due to silly Frech lady at cdg!). A little mouldy black stains on creiling above shower, same as sequia lodge last year, carpet fine. Great room for price paid, very little difference to sequia lodge room wise. Have a great time, i'm still buzzing!
