I have bought points from a DVC member for January and have lost the confirmation that he faxed me. The ressie is for next week. I have the reservation number that he provided to me. Do I need the reservation confirmation sheet, or can I just provide my ressie #? Also, can I give my ressie to my friend? Can she check in under my name? Something may be happening at my work that I am not going to be able to go. Talk about a scatter brained month. Please advise.
Thanks,
Susan

I don't think you can give the ressie to someone else; check-in will require an ID to make sure no one has stolen the reservation, esp. since you don't have the confirmation. Also, your anticipated date of arrival is within the 31 day cancellation period, meaning that member's points would go into a holding account and must be re-booked within 60 days of the next planned vacation, thereby limiting their use. That doesn't even take into consideration the end of the member's use year. If they have a Feb. use year, those points would be invalid unless by some miracle, someone else could be found to use them.

You need to contact the member from whom you rented the points. It doesn't sound as though you purchased the travel insurance.

If you want to give the reservation to your friend, contact the Member and ask him/her to either change the name on the ressie to your friend's name, or better yet, to just add your friend's name to the reservation.

As long as the person checking in has the confirmation number and his/her name is on the reservation, there should not be a problem checking in. FWIW, I have never needed the paper confirmation letter to check in (but I always have it with me, just in case and my name is always on the ressie).

Good luck - Hope things work out for you so that you can go!

Ditto what CarolMN said. Have the member add your friends name to the reservation and make sure they have the confirmation number. When you check in all you have to do is give them your name (be prepared to give both names on the reservation just in case). If they have touble finding the reservation the confirmation number will be helpful. You don't have to have the confirmation sheet.

We stayed at BCV on rented points at the beginning of Dec and we did not need the confirmation sheet at all. I did have to give her my name and my ID so your friend's name will have to be on the reservation in order for them to check in, but the person you rented from should be able to do this for you in one phone call. Our check in went very smoothly and was done in about 2 minutes!

Thanks everybody for helping. Since I was unable to get hold of the DVC owner, I went ahead and called the guest services. They added my friend's name to the ressie with no problem. This way both of us are on there. It looks like I will be able to go after all and my friend will be joining us.
