I'm new to this whole DVC thing and don't even know if it's going to go through but am wondering about the booking one day at a time. What is the purpose? Is it because you can book at your home resort up to 11 months from your checkout date? So you do it each day as if that's your checkout date and then you don't have to wait as long to book it? Does that make sense? I'm just curious. And how exactly does that work? Doesn't that bug the heck out of Disney?

I'm currently doing a day by day for December at SSR for a grand villa. I was encouraged to do this by MS to get exactly what I wanted. December appears to be a high use period for DVC due to the lower points and christmas vacation. I would only do this for a GV for an SSR stay. After all of SSR is finished I think i'll be ok to book 11 months from check-out day. Some of the other DVC are smaller so you may need to call day by day no matter what size room. To do day by day I called MS told them what I needed and my check out day. I also told MS I would be calling day by day and it was noted on my ressie so I wouldn't be sent a seperate paper for every day. Now I just call every morning and reserve the day needed. MS doesn't appear to be Bugged by this at all. Hope this help's. Susan

I think it's safe to say that the period from Thanksgiving through New Year's is the highest demand period at DVC resorts. Rather than take chances, many people will begin booking their trip one day at a time as soon as they can begin calling.

For some of the rarer rooms, this process is necessary: Grand Villas, Standard View rooms at BWV, Boardwalk View rooms at BWV. In other cases it's probably not as important, but you can't beat the peace of mind. DVC operators are used to people doing it, and are very accommodating. In short, there's no reason not to book that soon if your travel dates are set.

Hi Susan!

I'm currently doing the same thing for my SSR GV in Dec. When will you be there?

On the other hand, we were able to call at 7 months out and change our VB reservations to a 1BR. The only time you need day-to-day calling is if it is a high demand time. Usually, Member Services can tell you ahead of time. Otherwise, I would call as soon as I know I wanted to go; calling on the day that is 7 or 11 months before the check-OUT day.

Don't feel like you must always do the day by day thing. We have only used this method twice. Once was for New Years 1999/2000 and once was for an October GV.

I've done day by day for BWV for early December the past 3 or 4 years. I'm going Nov 26 to Dec 2 this year. Nov 26 is Thanksgiving weekend (Saturday). If I waited until Jan 2 (or actually Jan 4 since MS was closed), there's a chance those first nights at the end of November would already be taken by those who had trip dates in late November. I reserved boardwalk view.

Wow, you guys have been very helpful! Thanks so much!!! I'm hoping someday I'll be able to give out DVC related info and sound like I know what I'm talking about!
