question... Princess Fraud

HAHA!
I was at my neighbors B-day party a few years ago a for her daughter and Ariel showed up and the lady had to be mid 40's. It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen.

My neighbor told me she came free with the bounce house. It was a great laugh for all us 40 somethings.

She came free with the bounce house :rotfl2:

:lmao: That is hilarious! Maybe that is a good argument for taking your kids to WDW as children. If you don't take them enough, they may become a 40 something reliving their dreams of youth. Wonder if she is a Dis member? :rolleyes1

:confused3 I'm really surprised that people know this is happening and admit that it is wrong but they don't think people should report it. :confused3
Maybe you have to be an artist, writer, etc to understand.
This kind of thing hurts businesses, and is an insult/theft to writers and artists.
It's not ok to steal the creative works of others and pass them off as your own.
If someone was stealing my son's music, lyrics, eye and passing it off as their own I would hope someone out there would report it or let me know.
People in the creative world need to protect each other. This kind of thing hurts everyone.

It isn't the same thing at all. It isn't like anyone could hire an actual Disney princess for a kid's party so hiring a faux Disney princess isn't actually hurting Disney. In all likelihood the party is using real Disney partyware and favors so Disney is making money on that.

Finally, Disney is a mega corporation who can fight its own battles. It isn't the same as an individual artist being taken advantage of.

When you buy real Disney Partyware-plates, napkins etc, a real company in America has contacted Disney applied and got a License that the company pays for to produce that partyare

That's exactly what any business, no matter how small, has to do
So even the small time dress like a Disney Character is breaking copyright laws

We have a company locally that has all the popular princesses. The owner was a face character for Disney and she + her actors do an amazing job. I was wondering how she works around the Disney issue but she has been doing it for a few years successfully.

I really don't see much of an issue. Most of the Disney movies were taken straight from published fairytales.

The point isn't whether copyright laws are being broken, but rather why would anyone care enough to feel to need to report it to Disney.

This is exactly what I was thinking. If anything, knowing you could get a "princess" might make some people more likely to have that party theme. They'll sell more party stuff, AND guests are more likely to buy merchandise to match the theme.

especially your son, if someone takes his eye.

In your case, I think we can all support you calling the police if an eye is stolen! ;)

I have a feeling that this isn't about "protecting Disney"...I bet there is more to this story

This.

OP- Were you somehow wronged by this company? Perhaps with more of the actual story people might understand more?

If you son is a professional artist and someone learns that his stuff is being pirated why would they let you know rather than your son?

Which were either in the public domain or Disney paid a royalty for.....these princesses are not (and don't seem to care according to op and others) Yes it may seem minor but what if those "princesses" are not acting Disneylike ? Little kids who believe would be left wondering. And this could hurt Disney.
Also for those who say Disney doesn't offer this service so it's ok .......Never heard anything so silly. :rotfl2:

Do you report all copyright infringement, or any other white collar crime you encounter? Really?

Or are people just mad because it is disney?

Definately MYOB...

As far as crimes go... this is minor and I would not waste time thinking about it. They are not hurting you... they are not hurting anyone... not even Disney.

How would you feel if you found out that by reporting them that you caused them to lose their house by denying them an income? Maybe this is the way they are putting food on the table, it is certainly not the worst thing someone can do to make money.

I would be very careful... you reap what you sow... and I highly doubt that you NEVER do anything wrong... and lead an utterly perfect life. Remember, what goes around will come around and karma can be a witch!!

Agree. If you are a person who always feels the need to pass along info then go for it. If not...busybody behavior.

I could understand if disney had princess rental all across the country but they don't. I think it's quite sad you would consider doing this. It could be some little girls only chance of seeing a princess in person. Not everyone can afford disney vacations.
