Question on Types of Lines

Hi! I asked this on the theme park board but did not get many answers... we are planning a Disneyworld week long trip in June, when lines will be long, with my family of 4 (including son, 11, with autism). We had great success with GAC but I've accepted that our touring plans will have to change.

We have not been to WDW in several years, and I've forgotten a lot. I'm hoping DS line tolerance will have increased. We want to make judicious use of our FP+ and, if needed DAS. I need some help from you ride experts.

1. DS has the most trouble when (even if the line is short) you have to stand still for a while. Example is Soarin' when you have to wait for entry) as opposed to lines that continuously move (like Buzz lightyear). Which rides have this stand still and wait, then move, then stand still and wait? Those we will want to do FP for.

2. Which lines have the worst cattle-car type feel? That is, where groups of people are all around you, instead of a more single file type feel? These were also trouble spots for us...

Thanks very much! I hope I am not starting a debate on DAS, that is not my intention at all!

One that I didn't see on the list is the Great Movie Ride in DHS.

This one always takes us off guard as it's not always crowded. When it is crowded the line is very tight and you're surrounded by people. It's in a huge room where they show old film clips and it has rows and rows of weird alternating zigzag lines. There are long periods of no movement at all as they take people in groups.

You might want to be prepared that when you use your FP+ or the DAS you can still have a bit of a wait in the FP line.

We are prepared for some waiting (a lot of waiting). For us, GAC was entry to fast pass lines for most rides, so I know he can do that 10-20 minutes fairly easily. We just don't know much about standby line queues b/c we either had GAC or went at Very slow times and we just breezed through because there were no lines.

I guess the flip side question is, which lines have constant moving queues (even if they are long). I think DS could do these successfully in the standby queue w/o FP or DAS, if I knew which ones they were!

After the stretching room at Haunted Mansion everyone proceeds together to get to the doom buggies-I always get separated from my family. That drives me nuts! We are planning a Christmas trip and I look forward to hearing how well the DAS and FP+ work together at WDW.

Haunted Mansion is the worst! I would avoid it. They no longer permit you to go thru the alternative entrance. Everyone was pushing in front of us and my son got overwhelmed and was crying. A CM approached us to try to talk and tell him it wasn't scary. I tried to explain that the line (or lack of) was the problem. It was a busy day, but I don't think we will ride it again on a busy day.
