My wife and I are taking our 3rd Food and Wine Festival trip this October. We are going for 3 days but only going to the festival for one full day. We both want to try some tequila at the new tequila bar in the Mexico pavilion however are not sure we want to spend an hour learning the history of same. Does anyone know whether you can simply walk into the the new tequila bar and order a tequila or do you have to register for the event?

It can get pretty crowded, but you can just walk in and order what you want. They have tequila flights and specialty margaritas. They also offer some appetizer type foods if you want to wait for a table (no ressies are taken, its first come, first served).

Weekends during Food & Wine, the line for the bar can stretch out to the ramp. Try it on a weekday if you can.

I did the tequila tasting f&w event last year. It wasn't bad but I didn't think it was really worth $35. I definitely think it won't be worth $45 which is what it costs this year.

From my understanding, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the food & wine festival the entire place will be closed from 12 to 1 while the paid event takes place. Last year there were many complaints that event attendees could not hear the presentation because of the noise from the bar, which was kept open. I also suggest you go on a weekday if you have time. If it must be a weekend, try and get there early. Anytime other than during the paid event, you will be able to walk in and order whatever you want.

This tequila bar is Amazing. Went last year. The event there was sold out when we wanted to pre-order tickets. But we had no problem walking in and creating our own tasting.

On the week days I've never had any problems walking right in and ordering my drink. I never do the weekends during F&W it's just way to crowed.
