Question on renting points and transferring rooms

We are frequent Disney visitors but have never stayed at a DVC resort. We have looked into renting points and think we may go that route this year. I'm hoping to get a few nights a BLT and a few at GFV. My question is if I'm renting and want to buy an 8 day ticket (with dining) will I be able to manage all of that through one reservation? I would rather not buy two 4 day tickets for obvious cost reasons. I would likely be renting through David's. Thanks in advance for any help. I read this board often but don't post. There is great information shared on here.

You can purchase tickets from any authorized ticket seller and then link them to your My Disney Experience (MDX) profile. Dining plan credits are tied to each reservation. If you have a split stay, the credits for the first segment will expire at midnight on the day you change to the second segment. The second set of dining plan credits will begin once you check-in for the second segment.

As things are currently, you would receive two sets of MagicBands (one for each reservation). Nothing is actually stored on the MagicBands, they read your benefits and entitlements from your MDX profile. Your room reservation(s), park admission, FP+ selections, etc are all stored in your MDX profile. You would be able one or both of the MagicBands during the entire split stay.

To basically summarize what erionm said,

An 8 day park ticket will be fine.

The Dining plans will be separate for each room reservation.

As stated, you would have two dining plans. THat also gives you the option to do quick service for 4 days and Table service plan for 4 days (or only do dining for one of the stays) if you wanted to.

The tickets you can buy on your own through third party like undercover tourist. However the dining plan needs to be done by the member, but needs to be placed on a credit card of the one on the reservation (you).

There are a few ways to handle this

1) you can supply your credit card info which would probably go to two different members since I doubt one member would fullfil both reservations.

2) You could ask to be on the phone at the time and provide it to DVC yourself

3) you can but Disney Gift Cards that would cover the costs and provide them.

The third option takes a little bit of time, but is the best way to safeguard your credit card info.
