Question on Purchases at Epcot

Does anyone know if you can purchase stuff at Epcot and have it shipped for free back home instead of taking it with you? We're at Epcot before going on our cruise and hate to take the stuff with us. Would love to buy stuff for people and have them ship it right to them. :cheer2:

Shipping costs are based on both the value of the merchandise purchased as well as the shipment method. I cannot locate the exact prices, but I think it is a minimum of $8.95 for UPS Ground for items totaling less than $50 and it goes up from there.

And if you choose for them to ship it to your home you won't pay for sales tax, which if you spend enough could pay for the shipping costs. And Disney has always been really great with us if something has come in damaged. They'll reimburse for the costs to ship the defective item back to them and will ship out the replacement.

Here's what I did - I purchased my items throughout the week, then gathered them together and shipped them from the concierge desk at POR.

Rather than ship a bunch of small things separately (paying at least the minimum shipping charge each time), it made sense to package them together and ship them in one package. That way, they ship based on weight, not the cost of the items. If you have a bunch of small, lighter weight items, I think it would save money. I think it cost me around $10, which was much cheaper than doing several different mailings.

Shipping things back home is a must for our family. It keeps your packing for the plane or car much easier, and its like being at Disney all over again once the packages start arriving at home. We will usually wait till the last day or two looking and deciding what to purchase. Once we make our purchase's, we'll have them shipped home by UPS Ground. We don't pay any sales tax because we live out of state, Make sure that you keep up with the YELLOW copy of the sales/shipping slips in order to verify that all of your purchases have made it home. If any thing gets broken during shipping, follow the instructions on the Green packing slip inside the box. Disney will replace anything broken. We've had coffee mus to snow globes broken and replaced. For some costly broken items, they have requested me to fax a copy of the sales slip for varification of the purchase.

Shipping items home is a very smart thing to do.

This is exactly what we do to. I bring everything back to the room and keep it all in one spot with the receipts. The night before we leave I go to the gift shop or concierge in our resort and ship it all home in one box. It is very cost effective, and really is never that expensive.

Thank you so much for these tips. I was just finishing packing for my trip and was worried about not leaving enough space in my suitcases for the things I want to buy - not a worry now! :)

What would be the highest cost for shipping? Any idea? I really want to ship home anything breakable, at the end of the trip. Don't care the cost, just want to know so I can budget appropriately.

We just shipped home a pretty large box from the Polynesian after our stay last week, and it was @$20 for UPS ground shipping, plus the hotel had a $5 handling fee. Still less than checking a second bag on Airtran for the trip home! :thumbsup2

That's not a bad price at all, honestly. Thanks for the tip on the cost!
