Question on Premiere AP upgrade

My sister, who lives in CA, has an annual pass for her and her ds7. I'd like them to come to florida disney in december and I just saw the Premiere Pass that is good for both parks. What I can't find is how much it would be for her to upgrade her current AP to include Florida.

Does anyone know if she can upgrade and how much it is? A regular park pass with hopper for the two of them for 6 days in FL would be about $550.

The price for each pass is $700. They will credit (in $$) any remaining days on the existing DL AP to the new pass. You need to do the math carefully, I think the breakeven point for us was that we needed to do at least 10 days in Florida (and a water park) to make it balance out.

There is a little bit of FL tax on the $700, so it comes to about $722.15 or some amount of cents. I can't recall the pennies but I know it is $722.

We are debating whether to buy these or not for our upcoming DLR and WDW trips. I decided that it's about $50/day per hopper at either park when I buy hoppers, so we'd have to have 15 days in the parks to break even. Now there are dining discounts and merchandise discounts, so maybe we'd really only need 12 days in the parks. It's certainly a brain teaser for me!

We renewed our DL Premium AP in September. In December, we decided to go to WDW this May-June. So, on our next visit to DL, we upgraded our passes to the Premier. (The expiry date is still in September.)

We did it at the ticket booth and then had new cards printed in Everything Under the Sun in DCA. (When we arrive at WDW we will have to add our biometrics to the card as DL passes use a photo.)

WDW tickets and passes are priced differently than DL so you can't just work it out on a cost per day basis. The cost to upgrade will depend on their current level of AP. For us it made sense financially as we paid about $263 per pass to upgrade to Premier. Not only does that cover the cost of the base MYW for our 10 day trip but we are now able to park hop, go to the waterparks, buy a TIW card and get the AP discount at WDW.

I'm thinking of doing this exact same thing with our PAP. We are hopefully going to WDW in Sept/Oct. While I already have some days left on 10 day PH, Waterparks and more, non-exp. tickets I think the $263/each is a great option. I would love to be able to go to a WDW park for just a few hours if I wanted without worrying about it costing me a day! Plus I am now thinking if there is anyway to fit in another WDW trip before our AP exp. on 12/23/11. I would love to go back to WDW at Christmas time. :goodvibes I might even convince my DSis to go with her DS who will turn 3 on 12/24. It would be nice to have someone to split expenses with and I don't think I can get my DM to go twice with a 3-4 month period.;) Or maybe we could go even as early as June/July?

I look at it as a good deal, money wise. For less than the cost of a 3 day MYW, PH, with no plusses I can go as often as I want. :cloud9: Plus I can get AP rates on our room.

Update-I was at DLR last week and spoke to a CM at the ticket booth (where they now do all AP processing, etc.) about upgrading to a Premiere AP. I bought my Premium AP back in Dec. so the difference I would have to pay from my Prem. AP (bought before rate hike) and the Premiere AP is around $316 (or close to it.) She said that inc. the added amount for tax in FL, but it's only a split amount.

I specifically asked her about having to pay the balance in full on my existing AP contract and she said I definitely did not have to do so. That contract would remain in effect. I asked if she was sure. She said she had done many upgrades to Premiere AP and your existing contract did not have to be paid off-this is a California only exclusive so Florida isn't involved.

So that's good news even though I would be upgraded sometime around the beginning of Oct. which would only leave 2 more months of payments anyway.

So it still looks like a pretty good deal. For $315 I get unlimited access to all Disney Parks, inc. Waterparks. That price falls between the price for a MYW PH with Pluses for 2 and 3 days. I will just have to hold onto my 2 day base tickets that I bought to get our free DDP to use on another trip.

Maybe I can squeeze in a trip in Dec.? :rotfl2:
