Question on Kids Menu?

This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway:

The kids ARE allowed to order food off of the regular menu, aren't they? I mean, I can't see my daughter eating chicken strips and macaroni & cheese (which are the only 2 things she will eat on the kids menu) for 10 days.

Yes, she can order off the regular menu, but if you are on the dining plan then she has to order off the kid's menu or you will have to pay OOP.

We will be on the Dining Plan. Do all the restaraunts in the parks have the same kids menu? All the ones I have looked at are hamburger/cheeseburger, hot dogs, chicken strips, and mac-n-cheese. Why would they expect kids to only eat these things their whole vacation??

I've been lurking on the boards for a couple weeks, from reading tons of threads.....
When you go to the buffets, your daughter can eat anything she likes, not just "kids" food.
Also, there are some places with other kids menu choices (places that are not buffets). I've seen some pasta, pizza, and fruit/yogurt type dishes.

The kids menus are extremely repetitive for the most part. The chicken strips are grilled not fried though. Every dessert for kids is make your own sundae or fruit cup except for 2 or 3 places. Most places have grilled chicken and mac and cheese and then one other healthy choice (often grilled fish or pizza which comes with apples for the dessert) and 2 other regular foods like hot dog, burger, pasta or a dish specific to that restaurant like turkey at LTT, skillet meal at WCC, steak at LE Cellier, etc. My kids eat very little meat so it got very very repetitive for them eating pizza or plain pasta--neither likes mac and cheese. I can't understand why just about every menu TS and CS has mac and cheese when there are so few different options available.

We were at WDW the 3rd week of October and were on the Dining Plan. The TS restaurants did require that the children order from the kid's menu, if non-buffet. I did find out from a CM at a counter service restaurant that it did not matter at those locations if the kid's ordered from the kid's menu or adult menu. From that point forward we just ordered the kid's what they wanted at the counter service locations whether it was a kid or regular selection. The summary you get at check-out from the cashier just shows how many Counter Service credits you have used and how many you have remaining. It did not track whether it was an adult or kid's meal. Hope this helps.

We just got back on Wed. On Tues we had more adult counter service credits left than we could use, so we ordered 4 adult counter service meals. The lady who served us questioned the fact that we had ordered 4 adult meals when there were 3 adults and 1 child on the plan. She told DH that counter service employees have recently been told to crack down on guests ordering adult meals for children on the dining plan!

Just an FYI, the official policy is to purchase kids meals at the counter/quick service places for kids. However, it seems that it isn't enforced and many reports are being made that you can order adult meals for kids.

You can read the brochure from here...

There are CS places with no kids meals and then you can order from the adult.

Most restaurants have other options. Here's what there was at the TS places we went to:

Meatloaf offered at 50's Prime Time; Cheese Ravioli, Marinara Sauce witn Meatballs at Akershus as well as pizza; steak at le Cellier; Chicken strips with pasta & sauce or pan grilled Flounder at Chefs de France.

It seems like a lot of the restaurants at WS in Epcot offerered a bit more variety. Not 100% sure, though. Have you tried looking at the menus at allears.net? They have children's menus for all TS and CS restaurants.
