Question on check-in...

We're renting points to stay at BCV for one night - VWL for 5 nights, Oct. 16-21. I've always been a big fan of WL, and this trip may help us decide whether to consider DVC.

I have a question for DVC'ers - we're planning to come up on the 15th, stay at an off-site hotel, then go to WDW sometime on the 16th. If we try to check in to BCV on the morning of the 16th, what is typically the earliest time that a room is ready? (We have a studio.) If we check-in before the room is ready, can we take advantage of the resort - access to SAB, parking at other WDW properties, etc.? We may check in early, then ride over to another resort for lunch.

Also, on our second day, we plan to check out of BCV early, probably before our room is ready at VWL. Will we be able to have our bags delivered to VWL? If so, will we need to be at VWL at a particular time for check-in?

Thanks for your help. I look forward to experiencing (at some level) the DVC and the great things I read from all of you.

Technically check in is at 4:00 and check out is at 11:00.

However, your room could be ready anytime before and possibly after. Plan on using the pool or going to the parks, if you room is not ready.

As for VWL, when checking out of BC let them know that you are going to VWL and they will send you bags either with you or for you. How are you getting there? By cab - take them with you. Going to the parks - have BC transfer them to VWL.

Hi.

We did a split stay between at BCV and VWL in a studio recently. We had to wait for our BCV studio until about 4:15. But our VWL studio was ready at 11:30 in the morning. I've had that happen twice at VWL now (where we got our room early). Of course, that's no guarantee it will work the same way for you.

We enjoyed VWL and BCV very much. Our all-time personal favorite is VWL, but BCV is right up there also. We own 200 points at the lodge, 85 at the BCV. We also own 55 at BWV.

Even if your room is not ready when you check in, you still get your room keys and can use all the facilities. We just had BCV bell services store our luggage for us until our room was ready (they gave us a little card with a number to call to check on the room - using the house phone).

If you love WL, you'll love the VWL. It's so quiet and peaceful in the villas, but still close to the main lodge. Be sure to check out Walt Disney's train cars in the lobby of the VWL (its under glass and on loan from the Disney family).

Good Luck!

Maybe you'll get lucky, and a room will be ready early. When I went in December, 2003 (typically a busy DVC time) and checked in at 10:45am, they had 2 rooms available that met my NS, high floor request, but were Epcot view, not the requested courtyard view. I could either take one of those or wait for one that met all my requests. It was great, I was in my room by 11:00am.
