Question on changing resorts

Since we are coming from Colorado,we almost always arrive late afternoon/early evening. To save points and dollars, we usually stay at a value resort the first night and then move to Saratoga Springs the next morning. (we usually let DME take our luggage and not deliver it to our room but instead transfer it for us-have never had an issue).
We take a cab from the value (usually one of the All Stars) over to SSR. I've read that Disney might do this for us-transport us in one of their vans. Is that true? We've never even thought of that as an option but if it is it would save us some $$$ that we can use elsewhere.

Is anyone aware of this option? Thanks!!

I've stayed at the Allstar resorts a few times before transferring over the the AKV, and I have never been offered to be transferred over in a shuttle. That does not mean there are not any, but it's never been offerred.
I have bell services hold my luggage and advise that I am transferring to another resort, they have the luggage sent over later in the day. In the meantime I head off to a park. Later in the day I head over to the AKV, check in and have my luggage brought up to my room.

I haven't heard about there being a van to take you from one resort to another. They might take *luggage* over in a van, but I'm not sure how we would know that. Bell Services takes luggage over on their schedule, and you can only expect to have it AFTER *official* checkin time.

Then you move yourself in whatever way you wish. :) (but they don't allow luggage on the WDW buses)

I have indeed heard of this happening, I recently came upon a thread discussing just this (I have a trip coming with 1 night ASMu and 8 nights POR). Unfortunately it was not on DIS and i cannot remember where I saw it! But the concierge desk called a disney van for the poster to transfer from an all star to SSR. It sounded like that particular CM just went above and beyond, and it was at his discretion. So unfortunately I am not counting on it :(

As I think about it, it may have been one of the epcot area resorts...but either way, same point!

We have done split stays a few times, and we have always had to find our own way to the new resort.

Why not go to the parks first, and then head to your new resort later? That way you don't have to spend money on a taxi.

I'm confused here...are you saying that if you, arrive at ASMusic, after tagging your bags and riding the DME bus there, you never see those tagged bags until you get to SSR?? They don't give them to you at ASM?? They send them directly to SSR?? That makes little to no sense to me. You have to be at the resort the bags are sent to....If your resort reservation isn't in effect yet, you can't send bags there via DME. I have to wonder if the bags went to the value resort, but were sent on to SSR first thing in the morning??

And as far as getting a van to SSR? It happens, but not very often. This is not a 'service' that is provided. No way can they do that for everyone. When changing resorts, it's best to either take a cab to the new resort, or just head to a park first thing, spend a few hours there, and then head to the new resort.

Thanks for everyone's replies. We have indeed many times gone from All Stars to SSR via taxi so did not really expect Disney would provide a ride but can always hope!
We usually call down to Bell Services at All Stars to NOT deliver our luggage to the room and the next morning we go down to Bell Services to arrange to have it transferred to SSR. It has always worked very well. We take enough for overnight so we have no need of it for one night.
We like to check in first so hopefully get as close to our room request as we can. Depending on our mood, we may then go to DTD or to the parks. Or just hang around the pool...
Thanks again-I think we will ask and see if we can get a ride but if not, we'll just grab a taxi. Either way we are at Disney!

Okay, that makes sense now. Many people contact Luggage Assistence at the values, when staying just that one night prior to their main stay, to have the bags held and then sent over to the next resort first thing in the morning.
I just didn't want anyone thinking that DME will deliver your luggage to a resort you aren't staying at. Trying to have everything very clear so as to not have misunderstandings.
