Question on Buying Direct from Disney

Hi everyone, I have been looking around here for a while but I didn't find an answer to this question, so I thought I would ask! When you buy a new DVC contract from Disney, do you get charged the maintenance dues for the first points that you are given with your new contract, or do they come due free?

I have just doing some research to see what the best options are for me. I am not planing on buying in for at least a year though.

Well I just bought at BLT and I'm not quite sure how this will work. I know my guide said my 2009 points would be prorated and wouldn't accrue until BLT opened in August. But my first payment isn't due until 9/15.

Dues are prorated from your UY or the official opening, which ever has a later date. You pay from that date until the end of the year.

If you bought in July you would pay dues for July through Dec.
