Question on borrowing

We am looking to make a reservation in Dec of 2004 for a trip in Nov 2005. I will be a few points short with my 2005 points. Can I reserve with some of my June Use Year 2006 points? Or do I have to wait until June 2005? I sort of recall that you have to be within a use year to borrow from the next year. In 11 plus years as a member we have haven’t come across this situation before.

Ok. You want to stay in Nov of 2005. Since you have a June use year, that stay falls within your 2005 use year (which runs between 6/1/2005 and 5/31/2006).

Your 2006 use year runs from 6/1/2006 - 5/31/2007. If you borrow 2006 points, they become valid for stays between 6/1/2005 and 5/31/2006. So yes, you may borrow points from your 2006 use year for your 11/2005 stay. (Doesn't matter that you will be calling in 2004 to make the reservation).

To sum it up, for your 11/2005 stay, you could use banked points from 2004 (if you had any left), 2005 use year points (which are considerd current year for your 11/2005 stay) and points borrowed from your 2006 use year.

Yes you can borrow your June 2006 points for the reservation. Your reservation for the November trip will be within the 2005 use year so you can borrow from the 2006 use year to make it.

Bill - I think I recall someone posting a problem with borrowing , too. Don't remember the specifcs, though.

But if MS says you have to wait to borrow, ask for a Supervisor. You are entitled to book at the 11 month window for your home resort. If there is some type of system glitch re borrowing, it should not be your problem to resolve and you should not be at a disadvantage because of it.

Thanks for the quick reply Carol and HCB. I won't know what MS says, unless I ask on the next call, because I can't do this until this December. And YES, I do plan way ahead.
