Question on Bicycle trails at HH?

Are there any trails dedicated to bicycles at HH that leave from the resort, or do you have to head out on the roads? Any help is appreciated. Thanks I am going in a few weeks.

HH is made for bicycling. There is a trail that goes out from the resort where you actually go under the bridge and it places you on the other side of the highway if you do not want to cross the highway with traffic. From that point, you can go out toward the bridge or just explore throughout the island. I biked several times during my last trip there and plan to do so again. If you have more specific questions, just ask!

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks DownNeckBoy. Did you rent bikes from HH DVC or did you rent elsewhere? Is there much of a price difference? I am looking more for convenience than cost so I am considering just getting the bike at the resort but if the prices are way out of line I'll look outside the resort. Thanks again.

the best deal is to rent the bikes for your "length of stay". You definitely get a much better bargain that way.

Also, you can bike across the marina (a quick 5 min.) to the restaurants across the water. We enjoyed doing that for breakfast. You can also bike down paths to the grocery store and pizza restaurant.

We even biked to the beach house with our two kids in tow (they have baby seats on back at no extra cost and for an additional cost you can get a "trailer" that holds two small children).

P.S.

Forgot to tell you the most of the trails are in the shade under giant trees which was WONDERFUL!!!

I brought my own bike with me. It is one of my passions and, while the bikes that are used by all the rental companies are serviceable, the main benefit to them seems to be that no one will gripe if you ride them on the beach. Since that doesn't really appeal to me, I'd rather bring my own.

There are many rental companies to choose from and you will be amazed by the level of service at HH for the cyclist.

And, yes, most bike paths are shaded, so there is really no excuse to avoid riding. One thing you might want to remember is that even cyclists have to pay to enter Sea Pines. I was disappointed to learn that little fact and you may want to keep that in mind as you explore HH.

Have a great trip!

We rented last summer through Disney and plan to again this summer....but this year, we'll be more prepared. We're bringing our cell phone along. Last summer we had problems on two different occassions with the Disney Bikes. This year, we'll rent through Disney because of the convenience and we liked the style of bikes they have (over Fish Creek rental) but we'll be prepared for a problem. Fish Creek rental was nice enough to help us out and fortunately for us, the two bikes that broke did so almost in front of their shop. We could have had a real impact to our day had things not worked out the way they did. Disney did comp our bike rental for the week but we're not taking any chances this year.
