Question on 2018 Free Dinning

this might seem like a stupid question, but has anyone booked a value hotel for free quick service dinning, but paid for one table service out pocket per day? My family likes the character buffets but would like to take advantage of free dinning since we are actually going during a time they historically have offered free dinning.

I don’t see the need to stay at a deluxe resort this trip to get the regular dinning plan for free ( we have stayed in one our past two trips) so we are saving money on the hotel. This way our snacks and quick service meals would be free we would just be paying for the buffets. I did the math and it seems to be less then paying for the regular dinning plan out of pocket or paying for a deluxe resort and getting free regular dinning.

Or can I just upgrade the free quick service dinning to regular dinning?

You can upgrade for $23 for adults and $4 per child per night of stay.
