We will be using our membership (own at BCV) for the first time. We (DH, 8 year old DD, and myself) arrive at OKW on 6/4 and will be there for one week followed by 4 nights at VB.

Last year we stayed on a cash reservation at VB in a garden inn room. I know they changed supplies and linens differently for us than for DVC members and therfore I have some questions.

This year we have a studio at OKW and a garden inn room at VB. I doubt there is any chance of a complimentary upgrade (like we experienced at the hotels) but that is fine.

OKW--flatware (even if it is plastic), paper plates, etc. What is there and how often is it replinished for a 7 night stay? Can I get more if I go to the desk or call the desk? If so, will it be at a charge. I guess I am wondering if I should make a trip to WalMart for this type of items. We are driving so we plan to stop at a grocery and pick up some perishables (milk, fruit, bread, etc) for breakfast meals and snacks. We have dinner reservations in the parks for each night and will probably grab a light midday snack in the park for lunch.

Same question for VB.

Anyone know of a close grocery to OKW? We will be coming from the north down the Florida Turnpike.

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Here's to counting down the days and packing!

There is a Goodings grocery store about a 10 minute drive from OKW. It's out the exit that is near Downtown Disney (where all the non-Disney hotels are). Go straight leaving Disneyworld (through the light) and you'll see it directly to your left (there is a Taco Bell to the right).

I can't answer the rest of your questions.

Edit: I got more info... Exit 68 off I4 takes you to the north entrance to WDW. Instead of turning LEFT into WDW after exiting, turn RIGHT and you'll see it.

Goodings is expensive. If you make a left at the light at Crossroads (where Goodings is) and go down the road about a mile, there's a Winn-Dixie that is reasonably priced. It's right after the ABC Liquor store on the right. Get a shopper card for discounts on selected items. Or if you make a right at the light and then a left after the overpass, there's a Publix behind the Premium Outlet Mall, they are also reasonable.

That's a right and a left as you are leaving Disney property and facing CrossRoads, just to clarify. We frequent both Winn Dixie and the Publix. I prefer the Publix, but don't mind going to either. I would not darken the doors of Goodings for anything at all, they are the Neiman Marcus of grocery stores and have a captive audience on those that walk there from the hotels on Disney's hotel blvd.

As a DVC member you will get a trash and towel day on your 4th day. Not sure that they replace the paper products or just the towels, and toilet paper and soaps. I would pick up a small supply of plates and plasticware if you anticipate using a lot. What you receive is really only enough for 1 day.

I have never requested additional paper suppplies from Mousekeeping, so I can't answer your questions on this.

Have a wonderful stay at OKW. It is our favorite resort, and we own at BCV also. You will like having the additional bed, and not sleeper sofa for your daughter. You may not like the smaller wet bar area, not as nice as in BCV. Each resort has differences. You will also like the HUGE bathroom. Be sure and take something to put over the peep hole in the door, a bandaid or something as the light really comes in there and shines right into one of the beds.

A starter supply of 4 paper plates, bowls and plastic utensils is in the cabinet. You will get standard glassware and coffee cups. Mouskeeping will bring extra supplies midweek. It's probably best to buy your own supply though.

Both Publix and Winn-Dixie have good prices. Plus, you can see their ads on-line and build a shopping list before you travel if needed. At Winn-Dixie you will need the shoppers card for special prices. Get one at the customer service desk to the left as you enter.

Be sure and take something to put over the peep hole in the door, a bandaid or something as the light really comes in there and shines right into one of the beds.

A nickle fits just right in the peephole and easily comes out too. This was one thing I found out last week after being bothered by the glaring beam of light.

They sell milk at OKW if you want to wait to buy just to be on the safe side. If you are staying on points I believe they will give you new plastic during T & T, maybe should buy some at the store, they always come in handy at your real home if you have some left over. No upgrades at OKW. Better chance of winning lottery.

You mention that you're driving....so it would be easy to take stuff with you, right?

We have a "Disney box" that we keep in the garage, particularly to use when we travel to studios. We keep an extra set of real plates, silverware, wineglasses, corkscrew, coffee, filters, salt, pepper, etc. We also have a couple of Mickey Mouse martini glasses. Then we just pop it in the car when we take our trip. We adjust it when we stay at a larger accommodation, subtracting the plates and such, but we keep in the martini glasses!
