I been reading the posts regarding trading with II. Just to let you know that DVC weeks are snapped up within the day they are given to II. It is unfortunate that DVC members don't seem have the access to the II website that other II members have to see what is available to them before they trade or even after they put in their week. :sad2:

I have been able over the years to trade into OKW 1 bedrooms evey once in a while but for Dec 06 have traded into a SSR studio. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if we can purchase the the DP?

I been getting different answers. :confused3 We are at Disney right now so I am thinking of going over to the resort to try and get a straight answer.

Thanks for your help!!!

Good question.

The resort may not know the answer so it may be best to call DVC Member Services (the contact phone number should be on your confirmation letter).

Exchangers do not usually have access to all DVC member perks, but this one could be allowed, so it would be best to get an answer from the entity that would set up the program for you. Even for members, it must be ordered ahead of arrival and may not be added to a reservation at check-in. Members pay for the program at arrival, but cannot order it at that time.

Please report back when you get a definitive answer. :)

Hi-
Thanks for the advice. I just got off the phone with DVC membership and they confirmed that I canget the DP and even ME with my trade! :cool1:

She also said feel free to go over the SSR to look around- she said I can tell them that we will be staying in Dec so they won't bother us with the whole tour.

Tomorrow we head home but will start counting the days till we return :thumbsup2 .

I can tell you for certain that II exchangers have access to the DP. But you have to purchase for the entire stay of 7 days and for all in the party. And if you were only planning on staying for 5 days, you still have to buy 7. Following is a reply I got from MS when I asked this very question.
Yes you will be able to add the Dining plan to the reservation.
It must be added through MS in advance, that means Friday for a weekend arrival. The resort cannot add it even if it's a weekend or holiday.

As for DVC availability in II, there is a fair amount of turnover but it's not difficult to get a 1 BR for a significant portion of the year. I got a 2 BR at SSR for 16-23 Dec for a lower rated 1 BR II deposit. Certain times of the year are pretty easy if you plan ahead and are realistic. We're also at BWV in a 1 BR in Sept and I think this is our 3rd BWV stay as an II exchange.

We are hoping to see if a bigger unit opens up from II. We used a "bonus week" to get the studio. We went by SSR today and saw the models. They looked very nice.

The person working the DVC desk off the lobby made me kinda crazy by saying that we can't get the DP and when I told her that we called the DVC membership desk and we can, she got kinda huffy about it. Also she told me that it is rare to be able to trade in from II. When I counter that we have done it at least 4 times, she was not very happy.

Anyway, we like disney, the DVC sites and all of the DVC members that we have met, just not to thrilled with some of the people at the DVC booths that try to make us feel that our home resort is of lower class than DVC (ours is a 5 star beach front caribbean resort that has been sold out). We will just avoid them in the future!

You can "re-trade" for another larger unit it one is available but cannot search for one. You'll have to pay another exchange fee if you do so but it's worth the extra $135. Just don't pay the $95 resort services fee until you're sure you will use that unit as you may have to also pay it twice if you re-trade afterwards. I have also used bonus weeks to get DVC trades and always gotten a 1 BR when I did so including units at BWV. As for the misinformation, you're asking the wrong people. The truth is the people at the booths tend to be woefully uninformed about most things though there are exceptions. They are the low point along the way. Plus being aware of other timeshares, I'm sure you've experienced the approach where a potential seller tells you almost anything to make their place look good and others bad. I could on and on in this area for lies and misinformation that I've heard from salespeople along the way.
