I have sent in all of my paperwork and just waiting for confirmation that the financing went through and everything is done.

I am wondering if I were to buy the AP now with the DVC discount and for some reason the deal doesn't close (trying NOT to have my hopes up with credit the way it is these days) will my AP be invalidated or impacted?

Also, does anyone know if you can get the AP through AAA and get the DVC discount there or is that only a discount available through Disney?

TIA!!

The AP discount is only via Disney. There is no additional discount on the AP so there's no reason to deal with AAA.

I'm not sure :confused3 but don't think you can get the DVC AP discount by phone without having your membership number and doing an AP purchase at WDW you'd need to show your membership card.

(Just so we're all on the same page, I am not scheming my way into a deal if that is how it sounds)

Disney sent me a membership card with all of the documents that needed to be signed. I am able to book a room against my points, I have full access to the website and was asked today by MS whether I wanted to purchase the AP. We were just surprised that all of that information is provided before there is a finalized contract in place (..not complain' just saying...) and want to avoid any "issues".

I'm holding off for now, just was curious what would happen if I happen to put AP's on our holiday wish list :thumbsup2

Well it didn't sound that way to me but apologies if you thought perhaps my post made it sound like I was wondering. Your original post wasn't specific whether you purchased direct through Disney or via re-sale ( a resale is a longer process ). Actually now I am confused as to whait you are waiting on - - you know you are in the system and can do what any member is able to do (including purchasing AP) so CONGRATS & WELCOME HOME !!!

what do you think can or maybe would go "wrong" at this point ?
Are you concerned about receiving copy of deed ? If yes, there is no need to wait on it - it typically takes months to receive it from Orange County.

OP has just sent in their paperwork.....hasn't heard back on approval of financing or anything else. They want to know if they buy an AP with the discount now, and a problem develops with the deal - financing, whatever - if that AP gets 'shut off' somehow.

OP, not to worry. I know it seems odd that you have access to your membership right after you send in your signed paperwork, other real estate purchases don't work that way. But DVC has nothing to lose by doing this; any reservations you make now would simply be cancelled if the deal doesn't go through.

And it's very, very rare for problems to completely scuttle the deal. Even if there were to be a problem with your credit, the most they would do is ask for an additional deposit. Again, they have nothing to lose if you don't pay your loan.....they just take the points back.

So go ahead, buy your AP. You'll get to keep the AP, no matter what.

Oops, almost forgot your other question....AAA doesn't sell annual passes. You can only get those directly from Disney.

I assume you will have an AP voucher. They do require to see your member card when you redeem the voucher for the actual AP. I don't know if they look up the number to make sure your membership is still valid at that time. Worse comes to worse, they will apply the amount you paid to a regular AP or refund your money.

Happy Turkey Day all.

The OP brings up an interesting question that I have been interested in knowing the answer to.
"Has DVC ever turned anybody down for financing?"

We were fortunate enough to be able to pay cash for our points but I realize that may be an exception. It was actually not a norm for us but our purchase fell in line with a real estate sale that occurred just before we bought into DVC.

But back to the topic. Does anybody know if Disney turns people down or allows everybody to finance. Doesn't sound very Disney like if you allow people who really can't afford to, finance with you just because it is so easy to get the points back.

Thanks for all of your replies!

The AP voucher part makes sense now! I figured there must be some additional requirement!

It just seems like an odd way to do business transactions. The credit check seems to be very casual, but I'm not wanting to believe its a done deal until it is actually done! I was told that when they do the financing, it doesn't even appear on a credit report other then their inquiry.

I'm hoping all will be fine, just the world is functioning in different ways lately and financing is not something that seems to come easy any more ! We shall seee...

Thanks again.
