The U.S. has been printing $2 bills all along. I have at least $500 worth of new bills bearing the date 2006 on them.

Now that's news to me! I haven't seen one since the '70s. Wiki has an interesting discussion of their perceived rarity. As a result, people tend to hoard them and many banks do not order them. There is even an internet group trying to increase use of the $2 bill, in case you are interested.
