Question for vertically challenged women!

Me too!!!!! I am 5'2". These are the only jeans that I can find to fit exactly like I like them. I went to the Mall this weekend and got me 2 new pair to wear to WDW in a few days. Happy to see that I am not the only one that's a "shorty". LOL

They are perfect, aren't they? :cheer2: Have a great time at WDW in your new jeans! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if this would work for you, but I'm also your height (actually, 5'2 and 3/4 :goodvibes ) and I shop for jeans in the Jr. Department! Some are still a bit long, but not too bad. I can't see me spending the money or the time to have them hemmed!!! I've also bought some at Express before that have worked - one pair I remember cuffing at the bottom sometimes, if I was
wearing lower heels. Although, I must say - I NEVER wear flats. At this height, hey make me feel too, well,--flat.

Good Luck - I feel your pain.

I also buy in the JR's department. Gap, Old Navy, department stores, etc. I am 5'1" 3/4 :goodvibes

If I want something to fit, I have to have it hemmed. I'm 4'11 1/2"! Petites are even too long sometimes. This world is just not made for shorties.

I'm 5'2", I thought I was 5'3" til someone set me straight, maybe I'm shrinking. I just go to the petite section and try them til I find something. I've bought Walmart petite tapered jeans, which I wear to putter around the house.

I saw the Oprah show on the perfect jeans but they're really pricey. The only store they mentioned that I would buy from is Marshalls and that was for khaki pants. I guess I'll check them out. :confused3

I've been in love with the gap's boot cut classic style, but they've discontinued it (sob). it was great because they offer different lengths, and at 5'2", the ankle length was perfect for me. now I'm on the hunt for a new style to wear. or to lose 15lbs so I can fit in the next-size-down size I bought when I was on a losing streakk. sigh. okay, no more chocolate.

I'm also vertically challenged but at a dead even height of 5'. One year I lucked into finding 4 pair of jeans at J C Penney's that I didn't either have to hem or cut off. For people taller than me I'm sure they would've been capri's but for me they worked perfectly as jeans. I also have issues with long sleeved tops. I have to buy 3/4 length tops to keep them from being extremely long on me.

Hem them, of course. Jeesh, do you throw away shirts that lose a button?

You don't need to own a sewing machine to hem clothing; it is best done by hand with a needle and thread. (Though jeans are one of the few things that look OK with a machine hem. Use a jean-a-ma-jig to avoid breaking the needle.)

Wash it in case of shrinkage, then measure it, cut it, press up the hem using steam, and blind-stitch it into position. Shouldn't take you more than an hour. If you don't even want to do that, use StitchWitchery (fusible webbing) to just iron-in the hem, though you should understand that this method will have to be re-done every dozen or so washings.

Everyone (male and female) should know how to sew, at least the basics like a simple hem. If you don't, take a class.

I wear capris instead of pants a lot because of that. ;)

I look like an oompa-loompa in capris! All my weight is in my mid-section (2 c-section babies) & I have REALLY skinny ankles. I sorta look like I'm about to tip over. :rotfl:

I'm 4'11" (okay, okay, I'm really 4'10 1/2", but I like to round up! ;) ), and in all my life I have only owned one pair of jeans that I didn't need to roll up, have altered, or wear a belt with. They were a size 2 pair of Esprit jeans I bought in '85, and I wore those jeans into the ground! When holes started appearing, I started patching with all kinds of fun fabrics. By the time I graduated from college in '94, those jeans were about 75% patches and only 25% jeans left! :lmao: Oh, how I loved those jeans...

Anyway, I can't always afford to have my clothing altered, so I've developed a "skill swap" with a friend who is very good at sewing and altering clothes. I watch her kids or give her a voice lesson, or bake something for her when she needs that done, and in exchange she alters some of my clothes for me. We just work out how much time it takes her to do the alterations, and I "repay" her with an equal amount of time watching kids, vocal coaching, or baking (she gives me the ingredients when I'm baking). It's worked out well for us, although sometimes we both get too busy and it will be a few months between swaps.

One lesson I've learned is to pay close attention to the cut of the jeans if you are going to cut off a few inches (or feet!) from the bottom. There are very few jeans with the right shape that won't look strange once they are cut off.

I've also used the iron-on hem tape in a pinch. It doesn't look as polished and "normal" as a standard hem, but it does the job. To be honest, I usually just roll my pants up a bit and gave up caring if it's in style or not. With a 23" inseam, there's just not much chance of finding bottoms that fit.

I have started finding that cropped pants usually fall at about the right spot on me as "regular" length pants are supposed to.

I'm 5'4" and shop at JCPenney's. I get Lee jeans and they fit fine on me. My mother OTOH has a hard time trying to find clothes that fit her - she's 4'11!

I actually own 6 pairs of the same dress pants for work in 6 different colors because I found some that fit! I'm really sick of those pants, but I can't find anything else.

Ditto. Although I am happily wearing scrubs in my current job, for my previous 2 positions I wore street clothes and had Macy's Style & Co pants in navy, dark brown, khaki, charcoal gray with pinstripes, brown with pinstripes, and one pair of INC pants in dark gray.

Luckily I live in Florida and for everyday hangin' out clothes, I wear mostly capris and capri-length athletic pants (that look reasonably cute rolled up to just below the knee).

I'm 5'3" also. I have found Tommy Hilfiger jeans are perfect if you can find them in ankle length! I buy up as many TH boyfriend ankle length I can find. I love their fit. All TH jeans come in ankle, regular, and tall. Ankle is perfect for the short set!

I'm also 5' 3" and these are what I buy too!:cool1:

I'm 4'8" short. Finding any jeans or pants that fit is hopeless. Everything must be shortened! Oh to be normal height.

I am 5' 2" and have had great luck with Lee Rider jeans. They come in a "short" length and I never have to adjust them at all. I have found them in JC Penney, Kohls and other stores, but they are cheapest at WalMart.

I have been wearing these too. They fit just right on me 5'3"
