This is related to the video tour that the DIS podcast folks have posted on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCdX1gXPZCE

I know the studios are only going to be 339 sq. feet, and that's basically the same size as a CBR room. Until the video tour posted, I thought the studios seemed well laid out, but the video really makes them look cramped.

Can anyone tell me if there is distortion going on there, or if the studios are really as tight as they appear? TIA!!

I can't find the post but I'm pretty sure I read that the models were smaller due to space constaints at the preview center. Lets hope that is true!

That's what our guide told us, too, but considering that the studios are actually smaller than a CBR room (either 336 or 339 sq. feet depending on who you talk to ;) ), it seems that the living area has to be quite a bit smaller than in the other DVC studios. It's concerning me a bit. I don't want to be cracking my knees on the sofa when I get out of bed in the morning. ;)

they definite took some space - the kitchennett and sink for the bathroom have always been back to back - but before you could put several people here.

now one. okay 2 thins ones. (less than 100 lbs per person)

you get more counter space - there is more room next to the bathroom sink.

in the bedroom/living area it did not seem alot smaller - looks like the night stand are much, much smaller.

the sofa bed is still a double (full).

there is definitely more room on the balcony.

I really didn't notice a size difference when we toured the models, but then I wasn't really looking at the size. Planning on staying in a MK View Studio for NYE next year.

the CBR is as big as WL or AKL rooms.

they are fine.

the studios are definitely a different layout and design. longer and narrower.

on the table/cushion whatever in front of the sofa - opens up so you have some more storage - or at least that one did.

We finally got our BLT book in the mail today! WhooHoo! I think the layout of the studio looks extremely cramped. The sofa isn't really a full size sofa...it appears to be more like a loveseat and it looks like it is shoved into the curtains...I am also not impressed with the idea of putting the bathroom sink in the kitchenette area. I am sure the larger units are fine...but the studio does look small and oddly laid out...I am sure it's fine for a shorter stay but might get tiring for a week or so...

In the booklet on the floorplan of the GV I count a capacity of up to 14. The diagram does not show a sleeper sofa in the living room but the description reads that it is a queen sleeper... THEN in the 2nd floor balcony area there is one of those loveseat size sofas with a double sleeper (according to the description AND to the drawing). So if you count 2 ppl per bed and 2 ppl per sleeper that's 14 even though it clearly states that it only sleeps 12. Anybody have any thoughts on that one?:confused3

I was confused by that, too, and read the description several times to be sure I was reading it right. It clearly says that the living room sofa and the upstairs sofa are sleepers. :confused3

2 pillows and it is a double (full) bed. 3 pillows and it is a queen bed.

as far as the GV - just not sure.

before the extra bedroom was just a studio a little more but still a studio. really looks like DVC is trying something different here.

since there others were 12 - it might just be that.

I agree, the studio photos look really cramped near the bed, wall, and sofa bed. The sofa bed is right up against the curtains to the window and you get a very small shelf for a nightstand.

I am just so disappointed in DVC that the premiere location had to be built like a tin can.

Love the decor but for that price I expected some room to move. If you get out of the sofa bed and the balcony door is open, you will be on the balcony. :scared1:

really wished they would have a better studio too.

but hey definitely love some of the new stuff in the studio!

think this is try it before I decide if it is better or not.

DVC is definitely trying to make the 2-bedroom more impressive - so the 1-bedroom definitely is - they are just trying to discourage the studio use. (not happening - at least for me)

Thanks for posting the video link. I must admit that I'm disappointed. I don't really like the decor, and it seems REALLY small. If I stayed there, it would be only so I could be close to MK.

Thanks again!

We toured it this past weekend. We did not feel like the Studio was cramped at all. The kitchen/sink area feels more usable that other studios.

We still prefer the 1 bedroom because ti gives us more privacy, but the studio is definitely a good option. Especially for a few days when we are not concerned about having a washer and dryer.

Same here, I didn't think the studio was too small. It wasn't as spacious as one I've seen at BCV but it was a usable space.

I liked the fact in the 1 bed that there is a second bathroom.

We toured the BLT models with our guide last Monday, the 29th. I specifically asked him about this. He explained that the second sleeper was so that families would have the option of two siblings (say), not having to share a bed. But the room capacity is set at 12. :teacher: It certainly makes sense, but I can also imagine some members will use the "extra" capacity for additional guests!

I would still like to hear more reviews of the studios as that is what we normally stay in. I keep looking at the floorplan for them and it doesn't even look like there's a place for one of those luggage rack things to put your suitcase on. And how wide is that hallway with the bathroom sink / kitchen combo? It just LOOKS so narrow.:confused3 On paper they appear smaller than the value studios at AKV...

Toured y-day. I thought the studio was narrow, small. About 16 in btween bed & sofa.
More impressed with 1 bed layout and storage. I was thinking of working it out with a small add on but not willing to sacrifice size or view.

The good news is the décor looks better in prson so glad I went. If we don't get in @ 7 months I won't b crushed and we have some great homes!
