question for those who have rented their points.....

We want to rent some Boardwalk points on the boards here. Am I right in thinking that the 'going rate' for BWV is $10 per point? I don't want to offend anyone by asking for too much! Also, we are British DVC members, would that put any of you off renting from us, are there any problems with transfer of money for the points?Do you normally do that by cheque, or postal order?

I think everyone does things on an individual basis. I have read posts where the renter wants the money up front. If the vacation time is scheduled into the future, I try to make arrangements for two payments with the second being at least 45 days prior to date of arrival, so that a personal check clears the bank and if it doesn't, I'm still within the 31 day cancellation window so that the points don't have to go into holding. The only problem there is that you need to be mindful of the banking windows as you draw closer to the end of your use year.

I usually take a personal check although one person will be posting a money order. I'd like to be flexible if at all possible. Consider your currency exchange and make sure that all parties realize that whatever $/point you agree on, it is the currency you want.

As far as the "going rate", you also need to remeber that the maintenance fees just increased and there are members renting for more than the $10 per point.
