Completely random and strange, but....my son asked me why Rapunzel's hair was still long, when at the end of the movie it was cut short and brown. We didn't wait in line to ask her - but has anyone's child asked this question? What was the answer?

Same reason that the Beast is still the Beast, and not the prince. And why Ariel is still a mermaid. They're all caught in a time warp, in the middle of their movies. Why Tiana is not a frog, then, is a great mystery.

:jumping2: <== frog, sort of

(edit: This is my answer, not a character's answer. We didn't go until our youngest was 7 or so, and there was never any issue about thinking the characters were "real.")

Isn't it obvious that she dyed her hair and grew it out becuase she missed her long blonde locks? I mean, it's long but not long enough to throw off a tower. Also, I bet if you ask her to sing it won't glow!!

We haven't asked her but our standard reply is "Disney Magic". Basically we have explained to DD that Characters can appear any way they want to in Disney - hence sometimes Ariel is a mermaid, other times she's got legs etc.

Her hair is what makes her Rapunzel, if she had the short brown hair, it wouldn't be the same...and as they say blondes do have more fun!

I've not heard it directly, but I've heard people say that the answer they've been given is that Tinkerbell sprinkled her hair with fairydust and it grew back to that length.

Rapunzel will tell you that there was just enough magic left to allow her hair to grow back again.

I am careful to ask my kids to ask the characters questions like this or tell them I don't know and ask them what they think.

It is the best way to preserve their picture of the World.

I think Rapunzel told DD that the fairy godmother (Cinderella's) did it for her because the kids like to see her long hair. Either that or DD made that up right after she saw her, but knowing DD she asked. I do know that when Ariel had her Grotto, that she was a mermaid because King Triton used his trident to give her back her tail during the days she visited WDW so the kids could see it. The harder question was how the heck she managed with it when there was no ocean anywhere near, or anywhere else for her to swim. I'm afraid those little water play fountains just didn't cut it.

Actually, DD is way more irritated that the Tangled Ever After Rapunzel Wedding Barbie type doll that they are selling at the Disney Store has the long blonde hair... and that in the website photos and in the store they show the blonde wig with the wedding dress!

I saw Rapunzel and Flynn a few weeks ago and somebody asked Rapunzel how her hair grew back and she said that Flynn picked her some magic flowers, she put them in her hair, and it grew back.

I love reading these responses!!! :love:

Yeah, the characters appear how they are known in the movie (Cinderella is in her 'only till midnight' outfit, too). Usually the response is something like "magic/fairies/etc made me this way so everyone could recognize me"

Sorry to hijack, but where did you see Flynn? How did you get so lucky?
