Hi~ We leave Sat. for our 1st split stay. Yeah!! We start at AKV and then move to SSR. I have a question about moving our luggage. I understand that they move your luggage for you. I am assuming you take it to bell services? Also they sent me magical express tags for both resorts. Is that how they transfer luggage between resorts? I am hoping our luggage doesn't leave AKV, go to the airport and then back to SSR. I can see that taking a while. Just curious how it works for those that have done it.
:santa:

Before you check out at AKV call Bell Services and they will come to your room to pick up your luggage. Tell them to transfer them to SSR for check in later that day. Do not use the Magical Express tags for transferring to SSR.

The Magical Express tags are only used for transferring your luggage from the airport to AKV and then at the end of your trip from SSR to the airport.

Bell Services will tag your luggage for the transfer. Don't put your return Magical Express tags on your luggage until you are ready to return home.

ME tags are only required for your arrival - not departure. Don't put them on or them might end up going to SSR instead of the airport! Actually, I don't really know about that but they are not for the departure. Someone must have put your airline info on both of your reservations so that you got for both resorts.

As was mentioned - they are not used for transfers either.

Thank you for the info, I now know not to use the magical express tags when transferring. I didn't think that sounded right but knew I could find the answer here on the disboards. You guys are great!!

Yes, when I've done split stays (and AKV first, like you), they had to book me for DME as 2 separate reservations, so I got a two DME booklets at home in the mail. One shows me going to AKV, but no return info. The other shows me going from BCV back to the airport, but somehow I'm not arriving on DME. Each booklet contains luggage tags. I just used the AKV ones, and threw away the BCV ones. Before leaving AKV, I made sure all the tags were off my luggage. I know bell services can come up to your room for your luggage, but I hate to wait, so when I was ready, I just took my luggage to bell services. The only thing to know with a split stay is that you may arrive at your new resort before your luggage. I got to my BCV room around 2:00, and when I called bell services there to bring up my luggage, it hadn't arrived yet. So I had to wait about an hour, then call again. This time they had it and brought it right up. Unlike DME, they won't bring your luggage to your room if you're not there (at least that's what they told me). So if you want to go to the parks, you have to wait til your luggage arrives, or plan to get it later. And one time (but only once in about 12 split stays), my luggage never arrived at the new resort, so they had to go over and pick it up around 5:00. That's why I liked the split stay between BWV and BCV-for that one I just took my suitcase and rolled it across the boardwalk.
