Question for those who drive through the night

We don't drive through the night, but we may try it this time with the thought that if we get tired, we will stop and get a room somewhere. I'll have the day off and can nap all day. I can't sleep in a car, so I'll be alright, and my mom will be able to take a shift if I need to try and nap on the way.

We usually leave 4am and drive all day. This way the kids sleep for the first 3-4 hours or so, and it makes the trip shorter for them.

We had our best trip in April. Left just north of the GW at 1:30 AM and pulled into POR at 8:30PM. No traffic the entire trip.

Of course our worst trip was about 28 hours. We sat on I95 in NC for 4 hours due to an accident. Everyone shut off their cars and went to sleep.

You just can't tell what will happen but have to be prepared for anything.

We live about 10 hours from Disney. Normally, since I have an erratice sleep schedule, I would stay awake all night til about noon the night before we leave and sleep all day. Then we leave about 1 A.M. and arrive about noonish. We'll stay offsite in a Downtown Disney Hotel and get an early start in the morning after checking into whatever resort we are staying in. When we leave, we get another hotel in Downtown Disney and sleep late then drive home during the day. It's amazing how things look different between day and night when traveling thru the same area.

With the Price of gas... there is no way its cheaper to drive.. Flights to Orlando are soooo much cheaper now!! we got them for 39.00 ROUND trip!!! it was from spirit airlines.. but even the other ones were 99... gas along is a lot!!! but yesss.. it all depends on where your coming from! should have stated that in the beginning! LOL!! happy & Safe Traveling to eveyone!!!!

$39 each way X 6 people = $234
$60 per fill 600 miles X4= $240

And i can actually find gas at $2.79 gallon to fill up my tank for $60, and i can't find $39 round trip airfare for 6 people on ANY airline

Last year when we went I found 6 tickets for $850.00. I am looking at between $1200.00-$1800 this year and right now a rental van for while we are down there is $1000.00. I always said I would never drive but am considering it now and I do think it would be much cheaper unless something changes with flights and rentals. If I could find flights for $39 I would be all over that
